I think we've gotten off track based on some of the answers. ( is it an item - sort of ... , is it viewable in the UI, sometimes ...) so we should get back to basics and make sure we eliminate things correctly.

Well, I avoided that bc Grove said the alive and undead questions did not apply. But might as well get a straight answer.
