SUGGESTIONS for DEVELOPERS

As a returning player, I have been impressed with the improvements made to EQ. However, I have only two suggestions that I believe should be considered:

    1. It is time to allow Franklin Teak to be able to teleport us to the quest hot zones. This is somethings whose time has come. Running through various zones to get to where we need to be and then to run back is not fun and is frankly a time waster and a hassle.

2 MORE IMPORTANTLY: There is ONE major change that should be implemented in the next update or even next expansion. It is NOT new zones, unless you provide improved less confusing zones. It is NOT new mobs. MY suggestion is to radically improve the mapping system to that of what you have on EQ2. The map is a disaster. Even downloadable maps such as Brewalls maps are confusing, hard to read and just plainly awful. The EQ2 maps by contrast are very easy to follow and read, include all mob locations and even had places for quest solution locations. Just like with EQ2 maps, you should allow for players to add icons for content, such as quest mob locations and to have an automatic updater as with EQ2. It is a MUCH easier system that should be implemented ASAP. Also, you have the technology since you implemented it in EQ2. IT can't be that hard to implement. PLEASE consider this.

For #2 there is already quality of life feature thread you should add this feedback to, opposed to starting a new one. The Devs have responded to that thread.

    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...wishes-and-dreams-what-would-you-want.246367/

For #'s 1 & 3, going to the quest zone or getting ingredients are just part of playing the game/adventuring.

I feel like EQ is very generous already. Velious was my first expansion and my options were walk/sail everywhere or pay plat. to a wizard/Druids for ports. Travel today is already much faster considering how quickly you can get places using the Plane of Knowledge or guild teleporters, and considering it's VERY easy to get a velocity 75 mount now (glowing black drum, just find someone willing to lend you a casino kit & get a gold ticket or two).

For #3, it sounds like you are just on the wrong server relative to your play type? Ask around and find a server with an economy that works better for you, or try setting up a toon on the buy side of the bazaar and then maybe someone will /barter you the trade skill items. That seems to work on Vox for a lot of things.

I don't think they should change 1 or 3 . that is just EQ , The only thing I agree with is #2 and part that you have to go download maps from a 3rd party site . I mean 20 years and you still have to do that.

The few friends i've tried to get into this game they quit right away because of 2 reason its the same way with everyone of them #1 the UI for a new player the way its set up is just terrible i mean the ui from 1999 was more user friendly for a true new player to the game than current one . and all the bogus filter options that have to be turned off right at the start like show other player hits ect and tell them oh just open 4 chat windows and filter each one to some order ect.

And if they can make it pass #1 out of tutorial , than they get into the Blightfire Moors and they have no map. than I tell them they have to go download maps from a 3rd party website and that just pushes them over the edge /quit right there. I can name about 6 friends this is happen to and really why I don't play much anymore is because none my RL friends play.

If devs ever add anything , add maps to all the zones just even real basic . here's the zone walls , here's a lake , here's a zone line , here's pok book. I mean if people want name spawns i can see going to 3rd party and download.

    Anyways my 2 cents

#2 would require an entire rewrite of a 16 year old mapping system. Just because they have it in EQ2 doesn’t mean you can just drop it into a game designed 5 years earlier on a completely different architecture, programming does t work that way.

So probably never going to happen.

All the people against #1 though...let me guess you NEVER take the port from the Daily Adventure Teek? Right? If Daily Adventure will port you then Daily Hotzone should port you. If it’s “just part of EQ”, then remove the port from Daily Adventure.

#1 - Franklin Teek should not port us to hot zones as these are mostly for lower level players to earn armor, exp, some plat and to get to know the game and the zones. There are many options for travel that you can utilize (pocket wizzy, tons of port potions from loyalty vendor that are dirt cheap to lower zones, in game port prizes (ie wrapped halas) etc etc. If you start porting level 20 players to the hot zone then they will have less of an idea how to get around than they do now.

#2 - The original mapping system is part of the original game lore. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/Maps_and_Cartography
There are even quests referencing cartography. Hence the /loc command to help one move around. We all embraced Mapquest when he created maps we could all use, since then Goods and Brewells and EQ Resource have spend hours of their own time creating and updating game maps. If you have problems using any of the 3 maps available now then perhaps you would like to make your own. You have that option( see first sentence link on how to do that).

3 - Agree with Kermit. Your example is perfect to explain why it is so hard to get certain items. It only drops from 5 possible mobs and all are in one zone, The Grey. Just like foraging coarse salt in DON zones. Just cause it takes some work to get is no reason to snowflake the game.

There are many many options in EQ. Instead of trying to change something you should learn options or alternate ways to do whatever your trying to do.

Eq is a challenge and is not meant to be handed to you on a platter. It is not a shoot em up game where you come in at level 85 and kill everything. You will have to work at it and it will be very frustrating at times.

Guys, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong it can be. If Daybreak wants the same hard core players and not grow, you are right. If they want to bring in a LOT of newer players and returning players, updating the map to that of EQ2 will be a big step in that direction. There has been a LOT of content for the upper level player. There needs to be stuff for the newbies and the returning players.

You can wish in one hand and in the other... They are aware of what the game needs. It all comes down to prioritizing development time for things they know will be worth the resources spent. If you follow their development cycle, you'll know when they have free time to work on wish lists.

I could make a level 1 on any server and just play for a few hours and acquire a full set of gear, weapons, and some platinum. And more than likely find others to group with and get some levels in any one of the many zones that cater to lower level players.

There is plenty in the game for new and returning players to get them rolling. As for maps that is only a small issue I think. One that takes just a few minutes to resolve.

These kids today would NEVER last even a week in old Norrath. Makes me sick.
