Saw a picture where the other option for Conquest was Pestilence, and it was female. That would work.
  2. BumblingB I got better.

None taken, but I'm going to point out again, that was the point of them. They were made by a lot of mad scientists that don't understand form over function. If you have ever seen the tick episode with the mad scientist awards, it's litterally like that. I'm surprised you haven't read 52. I recommend it. Out of all the crisises that were churned out in pre52, it was actually really good. (Identity Crisis, 52, and Blackest Night. Don't bother with anything else.)

Also, style wise, complete may not be a good idea. But mix and match, they work. Look at the time traveler style...
  3. BigAl Devoted Player

Ugh, do we have to? :p
  4. BumblingB I got better.

Yes, because I actually SAW someone make the shoulders work with their character... True story. I was as baffled as the next guy.

My reasoning is, in my picture, they may look bad overall, but like the back piece of war, you could use for a cybernetic style. Just like the God awful Brainiac backpiece from BC3, it doesn't work with one, can with another.

    Me? please say yes.
  6. BumblingB I got better.

Okay. I don't remember your costume though...

Pic, or it didn't happen :D

Does no one like the Palmerverse? D: I mean, when we heard Sore's group go with the Kryptonian biospace, that was interesting, but not what I was expecting. I also know Loche said he was surprised by it too.

I like your idea, but it is a bigger DLC than what Enter Shazam was.

You have 3 solos open world and 3 solos interior, correct?
    You also included 2 alerts.
1 new powerset and 5 iconic powers.
    1 PvP map.

Or is it like SoT/CC and an enclosed space where you run various open world and 2 alerts with 1 powerset?

Also, how are you dealing with the iconics? Do you have to own the DLC to access them?

I find it interesting how you are using Deathstorm as you biggest antagonist and to introduce Firestorm as the powerset, but it seems like it would be a Firestorm DLC and not an Atom DLC. Don't get me wrong, you did a great job on trying to introduce the designs properly, but other than the Kryptonian Fantastic Voyage, it's Firestorm related.

    Any new armor styles?

    Good job btw. :)

I know in our case, we didn't have any true depth of DC lore knowledge in our group other than Spytle who was leaning back to let us be creative. Personally, I have no clue what the Palmerverse was. We just knew we wanted the Fantastic Voyage experience without over complicating game mechanics with actual growing and shrinking. At that point, anywhere could have been the stage. With the Kryptonian angle, we discovered we could hit the Tron experience too with the Jor El AI Matrix.

Don't get me wrong at all. You guys did a great job on making it work with DC, just not what a lot of us expected. It's funny how Spytle let you guys just go with it. He probably thought like Disney did with all his movies. "Have any of you read the Jungle Book? No? Good, this is what we are going to do."

I am just surprised that YCA didn't do Palmerverse. Considering he is a HUGE dc fan and loves the lore in it. :) Just saying.

Also, give the atom mini series from 1980s a read. At least that one is quick. You can also read the search for Ray Palmer from Countdown, which he ran away to his universe after what happened in Identity Crisis. But other than the multiverse idea, Countdown was... ugh.

i'm not sure I understand your concern here. the "Palmer-verse" is the sub-atomic universe. so anything along the lines of "fantastic voyage" or "innerspace" would qualify -- doesn't it? if not, then you're right, my solution is a flop.

    see notes below. :)

    see notes below. :)
see notes below. and updated post :)

yes, they come with the DLC so it must be purchased to get these iconics.

    see updated post :D

thank you :) ... i'm super embarrased though. i posted the wrong version of the document without realizing. lol -- so i asked a mod to remove it.

i'm going to post my "creative notes" as follows to address some of what you brought up...

    Creative Notes:
This DLC is centred around the Atom (Ray Palmer) and the sub-atomic universe aka "Palmer-verse" which is an exciting and organically creative direction for the DLC, but I'd like to explain a few choices I made.

I gave the concept a lot of thought and consideration and when I did this I kept seeing the Atom's Atomic emblem. I knew a moderate amount about the Atom and began to do a lot of research to learn about his abilities and his enemies.

The Atom is essentially another "physical powerset" character with the additional ability to miniaturize. I considered introducing a Physical Powerset at this point. Understanding that the Atom is, from a gameplay perspective, essentially just a microscopic Superman he became very limited outside of his sub-atomic context and would only be true to the character if all the adventure content was done at the sub-atomic level. This would leave me few options when introducing new Legends Characters. The sub-atomic environments would also be very labour intense on the environment artists and this work has one of the longer turn around times from a development perspective.

I considered the appeal and fun factor of the Palmer-verse. I decided that the automatic implication of having missions in a sub-atomic setting was obviously was very fun and creative but I also felt it could easily become too camp and have only a niche appeal, so, I made the decision to have the bulk of the content at the microscopic level but not all of the content follow that. I was conscious that many players may not appreciate an entire DLC of that nature and additionally, it would restrict a lot of opportunities to introduce new iconic characters (which is always a crowd pleaser) as well. This decision, I feel, will either leave our players wanting more of this type of content (and they'll let us know if that's the case) or it will be just enough of this content to satiate them without killing their interest in it.

Considering these factors, regarding the Atom's lack of unique gameplay and the labour involved in making faux sub-atomic environments I concluded that this shouldn't become a large content DLC with multiple long raids centred around these things.

In my research I found that the Atom's arch-enemy is Chronos (the time traveler?!) so I couldn't see any natural opportunity to use that character in a sub-atomic universe and started looking at the Atom's other enemies. I next thought of Atomica but realized I couldn't use her without first introducing the Crime Syndicate. I had to keep looking; I found that Dwarfstar was his antithesis rogue and perfect for a Palmer-verse story and I noticed Amazo was listed and remembered the JLU episode called "the Return" and I drew inspiration from this also.

So, at this point, I felt I was missing an obvious opportunity to do something different and unexpected; I felt that this DLC could be bigger than the Palmer-verse (please excuse the pun ;) ) and it was a great (possibly the only) opportunity to introduce the popular fan-requested powerset Atomic. So, the DLC became an Atomic DLC from every facet of it with Ray Palmer and his sub-atomic "Palmer-verse" as the star of the show. Although not all of the content happens at the sub-atomic level, even when the action is not sub-atomic, the Atom is still very much the star of the show and I took care and planning to ensure that all of the content centred around him (you're either escorting him places or he's escorting you places). Like in a movie, even if a character doesn't have as many lines as another character; if most of the plot and action centres around them, this is still a very big role.

Here's my attempt to contribute. I will be posting my own contributions for Enter Shazam and Monkey Business when I finish those up. :)

I really enjoyed the implied "Innerspace" theme of this concept and was really impressed with where the SOE Live group took it. And I really want to acknowledge that -- I think they did a great job. :)

I did my own approach of course, and I took a different approach for a powerset, because I feel it's critical that all powersets introduced have strong conceptual and thematic origins in the DCU and with DC characters.

This is a Small Content DLC.

    Legends Characters:
Free w. DLC = Captain Atom, Atomic Skull
    Marketplace = Firestorm, Deathstorm

    NEW Powerset:
Atomic (Controller) The inspiration character is Firestorm.
The powerset focuses on energy projection, release and radiation attacks typified with blasts and AoEs radiation sickness DoTs etc. on one side of the tree. On the other side of the tree creative use of molecular rearrangement and structure changes. Power stunts include single and group encasements in metal etc, choking gas clouds, and creation of weaponization items etc.

    Premise:
The Society has hatched a plot that sends Plastique to coordinate a series of attacks on ALL Metropolis based STARLabs facilities in an effort to create confusion and cover their plan. Their facility attacks are a diversion to cover a precise attempt to acquire Kryptonite and use it to incapacitate Supergirl. This attack on Supergirl is in truth a diversion of it's own meant to keep heroes from noticing the theft of technology from STARLabs storage -- It's a diversion within a diversion! The technology is the real goal and once the equipment is activated it self-assembles revealing it is the android Amazo! Amazo rampages once re-activated looking for his creator.

    Detail:
Spandex Styles: inspired from the Atom, Captain Atom and Firestorm
Tier X gear is introduced. inspiration is Amazo. (not too bulky though!)

    Setting:
    STARLabs. Supergirl's biospace.

    Openworld Solo Missions:
Location: Old STARLabs, New STARLAbs and STARLabs Little Bohemia (Exterior/Interior)

    - Villains meetup with Plastique on site who is coordinating attacks on various STARLabs facilities in Metropolis and Gotham as a diversion to allow the strike force to enter STAR unnoticed. Missions would include sabotaging various experiments, causing destruction on the facility, and attacking personnel -- taking hostages etc.

    - Heroes will arrive on scene and coordinate with Captain Atom for rescue efforts and assist injured STARLabs personnel and attempt to run interference with the villains on site. Missions would include defusing sabotaged experiments, clearing damage and rescuing personnel from damaged areas of the facility and experiments gone wrong, and saving hostages.

Note: there are 3 STARLabs Facilities in Metropolis. 1 will have the location of the Alert, while the other 2 will have minimal exterior solo content and extensive interior solo content.

The interior missions take inspiration from the TV show "Eureka" which featured a military classified lab/"think tank" similar to STARLabs; full of exotic experiments that would often go awry and have to be contained. Examples include: killer robots, AI driven stealth planes on the warpath, environmental experiments poisoning an area, experiments having adverse health or control reactions on victims in the area and so on…

    PVP:
BOTH STAR Labs interiors are PVP zones similar to how the Gotham Wastelands is. Players can actively work against each other to attack/defend STARLabs.
  13. SuperiorMouse New Player

    Alert #1:
    Location: Old STARLabs

    Villain Allies:
    Atomic Skull, Deathstorm, Multiplex

    - Villains are summoned to the HoD by Lex Luthor. In a cutscene Luthor instructs the villains to escort Dwarfstar, Atomic Skull and Multiplex to STARLabs. They will infiltrate it and attack Supergirl who is onsite for followup testing after her exposure to red sun radiation at the hands of Dr. Psycho. Once inside STARLabs they will battle STARLabs defences, security, Captain Atom and Firestorm, and ultimately defeat Supergirl. At that point villains will enter Supergirl's system with Atomic Skull while Multiplex guards STARLabs for their exit. This completes the mission.

    encounter note (first):
the first confrontation is with Captain Atom.

    encounter note (final):
the final confrontation with Supergirl is in the lab storing the Kryptonite. Supergirl thinks the plot is to escape with it and she won't let you. As your battle progresses, Supergirl is unharmed but the room takes progressive damage. Once the room's health drops below 35% the vault containing the Kryptonite is damaged and breaks open weakening Supergirl and allows players to defeat her.

    Hero Allies:
    the Atom, Firestorm, Captain Atom

    - Heroes are diverted to STARLabs by Oracle -- She's received an emergency request from Dr Hamilton. The lab has been attacked and Dr. Emil Hamilton and Dr. Sarah Charles are attending to Supergirl who is unconscious but stable. Heroes arrive at STARLabs too late to prevent the villain plot but must prevent the villains from escaping. Players will encounter the Atom, Captain Atom and Firestorm as they progress through the instance and assist them in defeating and arresting Dwarfstar, Atomic Skull and Multiplex to secure the facility before they can save Supergirl.

    encounter note (first):
heroes will encounter Atomic Skull, Plastique & Multiplex (main) together. the villains will be uploading data / teleporting equipment when interrupted. heroes will fight Multiplex until Plastique completes her work both villains will fight and can be defeated. essentially a gauntlet encounter swarming players with Multiplex. at the end of the encounter the technology activated by Plastique recombines itself to form the Amazo android who breaks out of the room to go on a rampage throughout the facility. Heroes call for reinforcements.

    encounter note (final):
Atomic Skull has secured Supergirl's unconcious body. heroes will fight him until he retreats.

    Alert #2:
    Location: Inside Supergirl's Biospace.

    - Villains will make their way through Supergirl's system under the guidance of Luthor (on comm). They will ensure that Dwarfstar gets the Kryptonite to her brain while Deathstorm assists. Firestorm will arrive to stop them.

encounter note (final): villains face Firestorm and the Atom.

    - Heroes must assist the Atom and Firestorm in curing Supergirl. Heroes will travel through Supergirl's system and escort the Atom and Firestorm to the Kryptonite where they will face Deathstorm. After the fight Firestorm will transform the Kryptonite and render it inert completing the mission and saving Supergirl.

encounter note (final): heroes face Deathstorm and Dwarfstar.

    Operation (4 person):
Location: inside Old STARLabs, Centennial Park, Downtown (near the PowerGirl bounty), Inside New STARLabs.

    Hero Allies:
    Superman, Batman, WonderWoman, Captain Atom
    Villain Allies:
    Lex Luthor, Joker, Circe, Deathstorm

    - villains and heroes face the reactivated rampaging Amazo in phases. encounter note: this is a gauntlet style raid (FoS3) players will face phases of Amazo alongside their faction's mentors. Players will defeat him and allow the Atom to enter Amazo's body to prevent him from reconstituting himself. the fight will relocate to a different location in each phase of the fight.

phase1 -- inside Old STARLabs: the first phase ends when Amazo knocks WonderWoman (Circe if villain) through the wall outside (she doesn't return to the fight).
phase2 -- Centennial Park: the second phase ends when Amazo knocks Superman (Luthor if villain) downtown and follows him to the next location.
phase3 -- Downtown: the third phase ends when Amazo breaks his attack to respond to a homing beacon originating from New STARLabs.
phase4 -- inside New STARLabs: the final phase. WonderWoman (Circe if villain) has the Atom (Dwarfstar if villain) with her who has triggered a failsafe homing signal originally designed by Professor Ivo, to lure the android to the facility where players will finish the fight.

encounter note: Players will defeat him and allow the Atom to enter Amazo's body to prevent him from reconstituting himself and setup the Solo mission.

    Solo (Iconic Duo?):
    Location: Amazo's innerspace.

Assist the Atom (or Dwarfstar if villain) and enter Amazo's body. players will navigate through Amazo's internal systems to find a way to disable the android. In the end Amazo is disabled and stored. Villain players escape before apprehended. Hero players celebrate.
