Why are people making such a big deal now over a practice that has been going on for centuries?

The animation looks familiar... not sure if seen the show, or just another show with the same artists

In a nutshell....

+ Parents paid a guy to get their kids into college
+ This guy would...
Make falsified images of students doing sports they really didn't do in order to get acceptance as athletes.
Get fake letters from doctors saying they were mentally challenged so they could have twice the amount of time to take the SAT
Pay off proctors of SAT tests to change answers...
....all under the guise of a bogus non-profit organization.
+ Parents would then write off the amount they gave him because...hey, it's a non-profit organization so they can do that right?

So, they violated...

NCAA rules for accepting athletes.
AMA rules for proper diagnosis of mental disorders.
Federal bribery laws for changing test results.
Federal laws governing non-profit organizations.
IRS laws pertaining to tax fraud.

That's above and beyond the normal, "Hey, can you help my kid out."
