I miss the opportunity of playing in Gotham or Metropolis without seeing bottled buildings, permanent gang wars, Brainiac drones, crazed Amazons, Lanterns killing each other... I would really love to have the opportunity to play in Metropolis or Gotham in a relatively normal day. I am talking of material for another DLC. Imagine Metropolis or Gotham, with its buildings, the restored mass transportation, the traffic... but just that would be boring, right? It wouldn't be all about that. Random scripted events: - iconic super-criminals and their minions appear to spread havoc. - find clues across the cities and discover the secret place of a smuggling operation. PvP Missions: - Villains: rob a transport convoy. - Heroes: escort a transport convoy. - Villains: help an iconic villain to escape Arkham or Stryker Island. - Heroes: defend the prison. - Heroes: cross the city with top secret documents and deliver them. - Villains: stop the hero from delivering the documents and bring them elsewhere (sort of "steal the flag" game) Those are just a few ideas. It wouldn't take much to rework certain areas, since the buildings are 90% there already. The seasonal events could take place in the rebuilt cities rather than in the already packed normal open sessions. Vote, if you like the idea. Hopefully, if we get enough votes, we might be taken into consideration by the devs.
Could have instanced cities, where players will appear in instances based on their progression through the story, and the environment and landscape of each instance reflecting that point in time.
That would be ideal, but it would spread out the players in too many underpopulated sessions. It would be feasible with a much greater server population.
YES YES YES YES!!! This is exactly the kind of content we are missing. This game really needs some fleshing out. Instance after instance is getting has gotten sooo old.
Glad you like it. I think that those ideas would also be great for role-players. It would give a true meaning to be a villain or a hero, even outside the PvP arena. Even though we have a PvP session, the game is all about roaming the city trying to find someone of the opposite faction and beat him down. There is no real purpose. With the introduction of PvP missions it would give it a purpose and doing that in an area without all of those mission related NPCs and atmospheric effects (gas clouds, mist, pollen, projectiles, big battles between NPCs...) would do great against the lagging. edit: The PvP session, since it's practically deserted, could be entirely substituted by the "normalized city".
As for the original maps they will never change, premise of the game. Now when it comes to alternate maps like for DLCs (I'm still going to use this term) the Devs stated during the WotL1 walkthrough that there is a sight issue with the fact that they never made unbottled versions of the buildings. They may some day make them but its not high on the list of things to do.
Bottled versions or unbottled versions, this is more the "nice to have" issue. But the "event" ideas of Ghaladh would be a REAL enrichment of the game. Devs could use PVP phase for this as this phase nowadays seems almost completely deserted. I always move in PVP phase but while playing an hour there (Ring war, collections, farming, CC [etc.] bounties) I never meet more than 1 other player, 2 at the most. So thumbs up, Ghaladh, may the gods of DCUO lend you an ear!
World of Warcraft tried that and it was a barren wasteland in phasing zones I like what they were going for but it doesn't work In functionality
I would like to see control zones like in Warhammer MMO, they used to have ares that were PVP no matter what if you entered them and fought for control of point (like we do in instances). But it added a community involvement to try and control territory for your factions. But since this is DC we would want it themed according and I really like OPs ideas. There are some good stuff in there.
