DCUO is deficient in some ways. It has lot of holes where players lose resources. There is no cap listed in the currency tab. You only find out after you reach max cap. Upgrading augments and artifacts in game, you lose whatever amount after reaching cap. If you only need 100 and you have a 1000 point, you ended up losing 900 of it.
Augments, artifacts, and allies tell you how many you need to spend to upgrade. If you have 1000 and only need 100, just spend the 100 and keep the rest for next time. Not sure how it works on consoles, but on PC, the Shift and Ctrl keys let you split stacks of Nth (or anything else). Suspect there is a way to do it on consoles too.
