Okay, so this has nothing to do with anything related to the game, except that I may be playing a little less often.

I work as Director of Operations for a company that manufactures, distributes, and supplies armored vehicles, aviation components, and safety equipment to military, government, commercial, and private entities globally. At 24 years old, I think I am doing very well for myself. The problem is finding worthwhile employees, especially in south Florida.

We are a small-business with about 25 employees. 10 of them I never see. They are oversees employees that market us and handle our overseas business. The other 15 are all in house. Or they were, until I had to fire about 11 of them.

I cannot stand employees who don't pay attention to what they are doing and make mistakes that cost the company money. I will not have everything I have worked so hard for and that the owner of the company has given so much to be destroyed or even injured because of a couple of employees not caring enough to pay attention. I would rather work 12-14 hours a day (which I now have to do) than have the company pay them a salary to continuously mess up, especially after being here for months and being sufficiently complete with the training regiment.

Now, of course, comes the struggle of finding good employees. Why is it so hard to find people that have the drive to work? I want a career-oriented individual who can respect their position, not a clock-watching creep who just needs the money. Is a good work ethic so hard to find? I am so tired of working 14-15 hours a day to keep up with the flow of work because of my lack of employees.

Now, we are likely going to be closing on a huge contract for the military soon for a large quantity of armored vehicles that we manufacture. I don't know if I'll even be able to go home for at least 1.5-2 weeks with the workload that it will entail.

My prime target is Marines who had an Aviation-based MOS. I think that reason is obvious...

But they don't have to be prior military or even have an aviation or armored vehicle background. They just need to be willing to learn! I am 24, and everybody else here is older than me. We have had a couple of employees come (and quickly go) that couldn't handle taking orders from somebody my age. I had one employee here who was older than my mother. Age is nothing to me.

For example, the most recently terminated employee was 35 and LOVED the aviation industry, but he never had a chance to get his foot in the door. I saw it as a chance to hire an employee who clearly would strive to be good at what he does and try to learn. Quite the opposite. Within the first week he fell into a groove of doing things incorrectly that I have NO idea where he learned, and refused to change! He continuously un-sold deals by speaking too often and saying too much, or not saying enough. He refused to do what he was told, so we got rid of him. Yeah, more work for me, but it's better than paying a useless, dead-weight salary.

There is a bit of fresh meat out there with an aviation background. Fewer with armored vehicle experience, but they exist. The main problem for me is having to cover ourselves. This industry, as I'm sure you know, is crooked. We had one guy come in here who I later discovered was attempting to steal clients for his own, personally-owned business that he operated under a different name. He is in prison now, but yeah. Another annoyance.

I had one interview with a guy who served 8 years in the Marines as a vehicle mechanic, and whos dad worked for Lockheed Martin in the aviation industry. I thought it was a jackpot. That was, of course, until he came in for his interview. He refused to fill out the application, because "all of that information is in my resume." I gave him one more chance and explained to him that it was company procedures. He repeated himself, so I shook his hand, I said thank you for coming, and I escorted him out. He actually had the nerve to say "So... there is no interview? Ha. You must have liked my resume that much! When do I start!"

I said "You start tomorrow. You are to report to the unemployment office and explain to them why you do not yet have a job."
So, long story short, you may not see much of me on the game.

My roommate had a job like that while in Florida, not with a those type of contracts, she did oversee other contracts for commercial companies to make sure everything was in order and serviced, like with Cisco and others. Hardest working person there, and constantly had to fill other people's slack.

She was on her way up, then they outsourced her entire team to India to save a buck. Go figure.

Soooo.... she needs a job, and she is experienced with contracts? That's really all I got out of that. :)

Oh, just adding that "and then there's someone who actually does their job, exactly what they need, and they get let go"
  8. LucidityKJ Dedicated Player

Yeah, that's low. I had a few jobs like that years back. Always made me quite bitter.

So, any solid people in South Florida need a job? Hahahahahaha

No, you will not get special treatment because you play DCUO, not will you be permitted time off for new DLC's. :)

Lol XD After reading your thread I feel bad for your situation, so much so that I'd be willing to work (gasp) but... I'm in California.
