As Radium stated, if yoiu have any PVP gear on, not just the weapon, and you have no PVE counterpart in your inventory, that might have been the cause
That too, but everyone who had a 131 PvP weapon had a CR drop this game update. If the CR was low enough I could see that making a big drop
I did have a PvP weapon. I'm not as concerned with the "Why my CR dropped" as much as I am what I need to do... or buy to get it back up.
Basically you need to look at what the lowest CR items you have are and get them replaced asap. Go to CC and replace your Trinket, Rings, Face, and get a new weapon, a Sparc. If you don't have access to CC then you have to go farming T3 instances for the gear. Theres a list at dcuo-db of what each instances has and where.
Actually, those go kind of hand-in-hand. In order to figure out how to build the CR rating back up, you need to understand where you are missing points. As others have mentioned, it is likely the PVP-CR introduction that cut you down. If you did have primarily PVP pieces in your inventory, and only a few PVE pieces to use as replacements, when they split the CR into two different types, your lack of PVE gear dropped that rating substantially. To fix it is pretty simple... get PVE gear. Start running the highest level content you can, and just start collecting useful pieces to fill in the gaps made by your PVP gear. Once those gaps are filled, you can continue your gearing progression and build even higher. TL;DR: Get some more PVE gear.
If you have Home Turf you can get a 131 PvE weapon from the Ace Chems/Strykers/Arkham/Steelworks solo missions
I was running those solo missions when I was briefly a level 71. Now that i am a 66 I don't have access to these missions anymore. I will try the CC items, but they the stats are ALL red and below what I have in inventory now. Very scared I'm about to drop a few thousand marks for nothing. :-{
