LOL, true, while that short was treading several levels of awkwardness, it doesn't really showcase Amethyst's true level of awesome from the comics. I remember reading her comics because she reminded me of She-Ra and plus, she was able to fight The Spectre and survive. Of course over time she was updated like many other heroes in DC.

Yeah, can vaguely remember seeing some early issues (was she always part of DC? or did she get 'acquired', like Grifter and the WildCATS?)

She was always part of DC since the 80s when she was created. I think she had several limited runs during the 80s and since He-man and She-Ra were big during that time I automatically was attracted to the character and picked up her comics.
