A Mental BreakDown V2

I am still a fan of PS over Pyro, just because Pyro is only really better due to it's dots, but that means it can't be used repeatedly otherwise it's just wasted potential. Then Also it's harder to set up Pyro PI, with MT and Tendrils you're all set to get PS PI but not Pyro, and even if you TK, even using TK is lowering potential damage so really I think Terror tree is good thing to cling to.

That being said I don't think tendrils will be a very good power at range. It's a projectile so has a traveling time. While it doesn't split and i'm a HUGE fan of the power I just kinda see it being used less often and I think being able to pick something up like pyro or TB would be overall better.

Personally I'm thinking TKBolt, MT, Menace, PS, Pyro/tb, Grandeur. I still like my shields. I'm not sure on pyro or TB, honestly I assume no PI for pyro because it's just not worth setting up unless I have a mental troller doing it for me, at range can't use dazing devices. So I'm kinda leaning TB, as then I can do a rotation like TKbolt-MT/Menace-PS-TB-MT-PS-TB-MT, doing some kind of range attack between each one.

I think the 60% modifier stuff is going to really help the classes that have those.

I was only looking at the big dot for pryo. Far too many things override burning for me to take it seriously. I was only likeing pryo for two reasons: one if I use mass Lev pryo will do far more damage with the pi. And two with the Nerf to PF I feel like more controlers will use TB for single target debuff.

I do like TB better though. As for having both. My current loadout is MT, menace, TB, pryo, terrorize, and tedrils/PF for aoe. I was wanting to use a 60% buff power for the mod. I've goten good results spamming tendrils into a group with the 60% buff.

I've experimented with PS more than anyone. I was the one on the old forums who told femto to use it for burst. I did some testing recently and it doesn't seem worth the two power points for me. If your already grabing grandeur then go for it but I would also think about geting the shield under TB .

Edit: for your comment on pryo and dots hitting over 1-1.5k on the initial tick is worth ending some of those dots.
  4. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

Aye it's totally worth canceling the dots, but just each time you cancel them, you're canceling potential damage. if you're getting regular PI hits it's very close to the same burst damage as PS, but I just think all the ways other than having someone else set it up for you will be bad for ranged only fighting. That PI is the make it or break it on pyro for me. I rather have the more front loaded TB if I'm not getting the PI.

If you run with a mental or an earth that can set up dazed for you pyro is sick, but since we can't use dazing devices at ranges it's just not something I feel is worthwhile to keep up ourselves because of how weak tk and mass lev are.

Just my view on it, I like how I can rotate tb/mt/ps and not really cancel things out pyro i could only do it every other time without canceling.

I totally agree though, I would use grandeur as I like to have a shield and a pick me up.

I'm going to either use to bolt or mass Lev for the 60%buff for the enduring damage mod. I'm thinking either use TB with tk bolt, pryo with mass Lev or both with mass Lev and remove terrorize. I just wanted opionins really. I go it raids now against melee dps with WD and either beat them in a pug or keep really close if they are league.

I said this before a while ago and I'll say it again... with the content being as hard as it is.... MassLev and TeleBolt in the same loadout are DEFINATELY viable. I used to do it in Gates when it first came out. I had to change it when things started dying too fast when everyone had T4 gear. When you watch the streaming video of Odyssey in that first room... it took forever to bring them down. I would get all my d.o.t.'s up first (MassTerror, Pyro, ThoughtBubble) then clip flurry to cast Lev, then MassTerror, clip flurry to cast TeleBolt. If something would live long enough in any of the content we have now, you would see how viable it is. If you give up one of the iconics you can have PsyShock in there, which is a HUGE group damage or go with Menace on the same loadout, or a SC if you want.... which I think are purely situational.

Anyone else notice that sometime the Defense debuff doesn't hit on Phantom Flames? I don't know if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.
  8. TK PUSHA Dedicated Player

they ninja nerfed it in gu25.
  9. Greenman_x Steadfast Player

    What TK said

As of GU 25 its no longer a group debuff, only single target
  10. VO1D Sentry New Player

No I meant that PF won't even debuff the main target. It doesn't happen all the time, but I do notice it happen from time to time...just wondering if anyone else noticed something similar or if I'm just being crazy
I know about the nerf to group debuff.
  11. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

Are you still getting damage? if so I wonder if it's the same thing that HL's entrap has now, whre the debuff is a shorter range than the encasement.
  12. Quagmire New Player

    Probably a silly question
But would a mental dps want a balance of precision and might 1917 might 747 precision
or would it be wiser to go with more might and low precision?

Also will Resonance work with Quantum's stuns? I am not on PC to test if you get the extra damage from Quantum's stuns.

I do not see Resonance in any of your dps loadouts, save one. Why is this? Isnt resonance pretty sweet since things are stunned alot and you pretty much get the extra damage off of it the majority of the time? Phantom Flames vs Resonance?

Gonna switch back to mental for T5, gotta have that ranged beast dps!:D
  13. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

PR will work with any stun, but only dazed will help on boss mobs. Which is probably why most don't use it. It's the whole TK tree issue.

And if no encasements are there TK push is basically p.res with a smaller cone of damage, but much less power.
  14. Quagmire New Player

    ok.
What about might vs precision? Stack might or have a balance?
  15. Greenman_x Steadfast Player

I mod Might/Prec in my reds, Might/Health in blues, Might/Power in yellows
  16. 13igtyme Devoted Player

For mental Dps it's better to have a might -balance. Might/prec in reds and might/health in blue and might/power in yellows. It also depends on your load out. The smaller dots will see less from having higher might. But dot's like TB will see huge number from each tick with high might. It all depends on the base damage. The prec from reds is good to have if you stack dots and work in some combos, or you clip every combo with a power.
  17. 13igtyme Devoted Player

Tk push also has a farther range effect. If you stand next to on dummy and have the other farther in front, you'll hit both with push. But if you use res you'll only hit the one your locked onto. It will not hit the one pointblank to you if you locked onto the other.
  18. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

    Exactly what they said.

TBH you can never go wrong going prec though as it's weapon damage, great help while soloing and it'll still help in raids. I think for mental and especially at range for t5 you'll want more might thought but def not to the point of going might4 vs might/prec4.

And yeah it was late last night, thinking about it now isn't p.res like pf/ps. I remember discussing here how it was a bit weird before and not what the animation makes you think. /shrug.
  19. 13igtyme Devoted Player

Yea the animation makes you think the aoe is huge but it's really not.
  20. Drift Hazard Dedicated Player

Actually, both have the same range. The difference is in the AoE type. Despite what the animation tells you, Psychic Resonance is NOT a cone. It's a radius AoE effect much like Psychic Shock, Phantom Flames and Cryokinesis are. It also explains why it could hit opponents behind you.

Telekinetic Push is a ray, which means it will hit everyone in a straight line.
