[Suggestion] Upgrade the LA and why

    Slug shotguns are amazing at medium range man. Nothing we could get would perform better, except maybe ARs and I doubt they're going to give those to LAs. I'd be Rambo with a jetpack if I could equip ARs.

    About LA changes in general, I don't need a new gimmick to be a team player. What I need is a way to stay with my team while playing my class the way it's meant to be played. Everyone else gets revived by medics, when I die I have to spend the next 3 or 4 minutes trying to get back to where my squad is. 9 times out of 10 I'll get shot at, cut off or otherwise side tracked along the way and at that point I might as well not be in a squad at all. If you can't solve this problem no amount of tools or gimmicks are going to make the LA viable in your average squad.

    Light assaults should just get the old "surge" footspeed ability activated by default. That'd be a good start.

    Unless that jet pack weighs the same as an LMG, Rocket launcher and overshield generator, there's no reason why LA's shouldn't be a LOT faster on foot than heavy assaults by default.

    I would suggest making maxes or heavies slower instead, but given how many people would be affected by that... simplest to make a change to just one class?

    my 2 cents give a 500 cert investment suit slot to use assault rifles. this will give them the ability to camp cliffsides more effectively. assault rifle just seem weird that only medics can use them.

    +1 LA just dies so fast and people notice flying creatures more often

    3 suggestions that would greatly benefit LA's.

    1. Make adrenaline pump baseline. Remove it as an option so you can't stack them since the games engine can't handle it, but LA should be faster than HA/Medic/Engineer. I'm also 100% in favor of giving this to infiltrators as well since both classes should be faster than the others.
    2. Suit slot to let LA's carry 2 more bricks of C4, 500/1000 cert cost. The catch is that you can't have more than 2 C4 out at a time so if you had 2 out and you tried to drop a third the first would vanish.
    3. "Sludge" grenades. Only works on vehicles and MAX units but cuts their movement speed by 1/2. Range and duration the same as UBGL smoke grenades.

    They can nerf the C4 as far i am concerned. That is not why i play the class. I play it because of its jetpack function. If anything, they should buff the Jetpack and make the Light Assault class faster and more maneuverable. More akin to Tribes minus the skiing. The audible and visual feedback of the Jetpack could be improved too. In terms of content? How about a reconnaissance tool of some kind? A long range spotting tool or multifunctional binoculars for those who prefer to scout oriented roles. I wouldn't mind seeing an NS weapon or two just for the Light Assault class. How about fixing the broken smoke grenades? That would certainly be a good start. Those ******* things don't work half of the time and don't deploy any smoke whatsoever.

    1) is a good idea and people have been asking for it for ages and it is a bit strange SOE haven't taken up on it.
    3) seems like a great idea and tbh I don't see why something like that couldn't work on infantry (maybe not 1/2 admittedly).

    2) is just a bad, bad idea though. C4 and LAs is currently at the very limit of what is tolerable, making it anymore accessable (with the ability to carry 3 or 4 C4) or anymore powerful (with the ability to hit with 2 then hit with another 2) is just a really, really bad idea as more C4 fairying is not what the game needs.

    I honestly don't care what people in vehicles think since it's mind-numbingly easy to farm infantry with vehicles in this game and LA should be an absolute infantry hard counter to them since if you get hit with 2 C4 and then another 2 C4 by the same LA (because the LA in question would have to place the two, then detonate, then place 2 more, then detonate again) then you are literally the worst player in this game. The only vehicles I can reliably land 2 bricks on are either idiots, 1/2 farmers, really bad, or all three so if people have a problem with their vehicles being killed then they 100% fall into one or all of those three categories.

    Yes an LA can now solo a shield sundie... provided no one notices him for a good 8-10 seconds which is how long it would take to place and set off all 4 charges.

    All this change would do is make it so an LA can choose between more health, more explosive resistance, a faster shield recharging, and being less tied to an equipment terminal for either their main weapon or C4 or grenades.

    Only a moron thinks that being BR100 and having four digits of hours in vehicles gives you some sort of magic qualification to comment on vehicle balance. Most people are too dumb to even understand how balance works, playing for hundreds of hours won't change that.

    Someone who plays a lot of Light Assault saying that C4 is broken has a lot more credibility than someone who played a lot of Light Assault saying that C4 is fine. Guess what, this game is full of tryhards who have their own list of 'favorites' and are biased against anything they don't like.

    Literally the most useless, ignorant post of the month. The fact that you used the 'If you let ___ happen, you deserve to die' seriously shows that you have absolutely zero qualifications to continue partaking in this conversation. Nobody that truly understood what they were talking about would ever use that justification. No developer on the planet has ever once said that about any facet of balance in any game, at any time, ever.

    So the fact that you just did shows that your opinion is meaningless noise and you are just babbling incoherent nonsense.

    First of all, this is a hilarious double standard since you're implying that the opinions of people who have a great deal of experience on things only have credibility if they agree with your opinion.

    Second, LA is my third most played class after HA and infiltrator and I have had exactly zero problems with LA as either class.

    Actually, it's an entirely justifiable position to take as positioning, awareness, and accuracy are the only things that really matters in this game. If you die to a LA's C4... it's because you are bad. That's not opinion that's fact as someone who has died numerous times to C4 fairies in vehicles, MAX suits, and infantry. Not to mention I loved how you just glossed over how hilariously easy it is to farm infantry with vehicles in this game which is funny when you consider that 1/2 of my top 10 weapons KDR wise are all vehicle ones... the other 1/2 being sniper rifles*. On that note, lets stop and look at average KDR of both C4 and all MBT HE guns.
    • C4: 1.32 KDR
    • Titan HE: 8.4 KDR
    • Supernova VPC: 11.74 KDR
    • P2-120 HE: 14 KDR
    Yeah... C4 faries are obviously the problem here, not bad tank drivers that are too dumb to know how to look up and switch to their secondaries when they see someone flying over them because they think they're good at this game due to a vastly inflated KDR that requires little to no skill to achieve. Yes C4 has one of the highest VKPH in the game... that's the entire point and allowing LA's to be the best class vs. vehicles (ground vehicles only and you must spend 700 certs, can't be resource starved, and can't equip med kits) makes them that much better for team oriented play.

    *99.9% of snipers in this game are god awful and it's actually a bit relaxing to counter snipe them constantly.

    C4 on LA's isn't actually a problem.
    It's the lack of awareness of the vehicle players.

    When I'm in a vehicle, I usually get a kill or 4 of LA. I also dodge a few C4 before someone finally gets me... in that time vehicles have a much larger chance of killing me than some LA with C4.

    People don't see all the LA that fail to kill them. All they see is the LA that did kill them with C4. Then they are angry because they think they never could do anything about it. A Heavy with rocketlauncher can't OHK you (in most cases), it takes time. Even if you are in a position that you can never escape from the HA's, they accept it because it feels like they could react to it.
    LA have to be reacted to before they drop their C4. That requires two things: awareness and/or combined arms. If you think no-one can sneak up on you, place mines or C4 at your back or get a rocket in while you are all in vehicles, you are dead wrong and deserve to get killed. Vehicles have less awareness than infantry, it's one of their trademarks. You can equip AI turrets with IR vision and a proxy-radar, then if you pay attention there's practically no LA that will ever, ever, kill you with C4.
    Or you can get some randoms/friends/outfit mates to follow you. Combined arms means that they can keep the flanks clear, kill off any LA that thinks of stabbing you in the back with C4. In combat a ton of LA get killed before they ever even see their target. If you can't take that, if you can't understand that, fine. But don't come complaining about C4 to everyone and blocking idea's that have nothing to do with C4 fairies. It's neither productive and a bit childish.

    Besides, C4 is completely not a question here. We aren't buffing the LA's ability to C4 here, we are brainstorming about options to improve the LA's other abilities... which mostly show where he is to everyone else.
    Did you look at my proposals? Smoke generators, false signatures, removal of jetpacks but increase of walk/sprint speed, goggles that improve their vision... not exactly things that will improve their AV capabilities outright. Come on! Think of an idea that can improve the LA without buffing it's AV capabilities.
    The only thing to "buff" it's AV capabilities that I made was the grenade launcher, which would take up the utility slot and prevent LA's from carrying C4. It would be a light AV weapon, so it would give LA a costless alternative to the C4 and reduce your hated C4 fairies.

    Again, don't block a proposal because you are displeased with one little part of the LA, which is in fact an argument that has been blown completely out of proportions by inattention and ignorance.

    I personally think the LA should be the only class that can use C4 as well as having the ability to equip under barrel grenade launchers for all their carbines.

    That and some bonus to movement speed, I mean maneuverability, flanking capability, and random explosions are its thing.. Right?

    If you support some buff's, a lot of LA would not use their C4 as they have alternatives, and your imagined injustice will be making much less of an appearance.

    I don't agree. Giving this to the LA would give the need of only one LA in the squad for this high powered ability, and give many people easy access to places that would be OP for them to go to. The need for the LA would reduce even further than this, as it's function of flanking and easy mobility over/onto obstacles can now reliably be take over by all other classes when the teleportation is put down. It's like a miniature redeployside, short ranged but not needing death. Example, biolab. Get on top of the building/rock above the teleportation room with one LA and successfully put down the second teleportation (first is in the teleportation room). Now you can put a lot of people on a more difficult to reach position, allowing them much more movable freedom. The whole VS MAX jumpjet idea is even better :S.
    Also, the recon is for the infiltrator, and it would create too much angry players to just give it (also) to the LA. Leave it for the infiltrator, and imagine new tools and such to go with the LA. Like the goggles.

    That would be me. The goggles would fit in either utility, passive systems or function as a tool.
    There where some other idea's, mostly into the utility slot. You know, to make the LA more useful, and to give viable alternatives to C4: not reducing the LA's power, but both increase the LA it's versatility and reduce the amount of whining about C4 fairies.     The other idea's included:
    - Stimulate kit for temporary more speed
    - One time spawn pad
    *Or revival kit that revives the LA if killed within a short time
    Tool slot
    - EMP pistol
    - Motion spot scrambler

    I also think smoke should be changed to prevent people from q spotting through it, unless they have the appropriate sight or goggles to see through smoke.

    Lastly, any speed related boosts should be handled very carefully, especially sustained speed boosts. The coding can only handle a certain speed for infantry, and will induce warping at greater speeds. This seems to happen faster when more people join area's.

    It's not about what people feel, it is about balance.

    The very last thing the LA needs is more C4 - it can only end up with it being nerfed one way or the other (LA or C4).

    What the LA needs is more lateral expansion and utility, the "sludge" grenade is a great example of this, being able to carry 4x C4 is most definately not.



    You can get an idea of how SOE feels about this with the shield sundy IMO, they didn't feel that LA + C4 should be doing what it was (and still is unshielded) doing. In all honesty the LA class would be somewhat lucky [I think it is fine, but it is right on the edge] to get through a redesign retaining 2x C4 nevermind gaining 4x C4.

    All that would happen if the LA got 4x C4 would be a lot of complaining (a lot of it justified too), likely nerfs to follow to C4 and/or LAs and any thought to more lateral expansion and utility for the LA be thrown out the window.

    C4 (and its power on LAs) is already likely one of THE major things making the Devs not expand the LA.... making that situation worse (with 4x C4) helps nothing IMO.
