Why would i buy any weapons as VS

When Orion is the best LMG available, dont get me wrong I dont think its OP, I just think other LMGS should be better, why does the stock lmg have the highest DPS of all VS lmgs?
  2. HerpTheDerp

    I dunno.

(And I think it's OP when compared to other factions)
  3. TheBloodEagle

Don't know but I suppose each default faction starts off with what actually is suppose to give them their faction advantage (NC dmg, TR ROF, the VS gets ROF & no bullet drop but less rounds?) and the rest of the weapons are pure sidegrades (minus a tiny bit here, increase a tiny bit there) to in a way specialize your playstyle after you learn the default. If that makes sense. When you look at the stats though, it's like an improved CARV. =/

    Sigh...

While it has the fastest TTK out of all VS LMGs, people may prefer a higher magazine count. They also may prefer other attachments since the Orion is serverely lacking in that department.

Fastest TTK doesn't necessarily = THE BEST WEAPON. There are other factors to take into account.

In the end TTK is what makes the difference.

Once again, you fail to understand the concept of versatility.

The LSW (afaik) is more accurate at range than the Orion, with a higher magazine (75) to boot. I know plenty of people who hate the Orion due to it only having 50 rounds and no 2x sight.

I could go on - there's different weapons for different situations, although I personally think the Orion is the "best" ALL ROUND LMG.

And different weapons for different play styles. So while you, Roarboar, may be perfectly content with your Orion, others like Tingi and myself prefer broader options that suit our personal style of play.
THAT'S why WE would acquire different weapons where you would not.

    Well said.

There's no reason to buy any weapon as they are all so similar anyway. Save your SC for cosmetics as that is the only thing you cannot buy with certs. If you are in the game long enough you will have spare certs to spend on weapons that are more or less identical to the ones you already have.

The Orion is an excellent starter weapon, but saying that it's the best available is an overstatement. If it were the best available, the bulk of higher-level HAs would be using it, but that's not the case. It has the highest DPS, but that's not the only consideration. It has the smallest Magazine/Ammo Load (50/150), which can be critical if you're up against more than one person or trying to nail an Infiltrator running around cloaked. It also can't equip some of the more popular accessories, such as Soft-Point Ammo and the 2X Reflex Sight.

    What does TTK mean ?

And what am I doing wrong if I hate the ORION? The accuracy is soooo bad... the only way I kill people is to run up on them and unload. I can't kill people at range for ****!

I tested the lasher today, and was about to buy it.. thoughts on the lasher?
  12. Roarboar

The key is to fight only in cqc, when i see an enemy beyond 25 m I usually dont bother shooting, i either provoke them to run to me, or run to them if they havent seen me. The lasher? welll, plenty of threads about that 1 already.
  13. Hashi

    Time to kill
  14. Kurreah

I found the Orion fine for longer range. Aim down the sights and squeeze off short, controlled bursts of fire. Probably only the first and second rounds in each burst may hit, but they will hit. Having said that, I have not compared to to other LMGs.

The Lasher: - is a very specialised weapon. Its fine for keeping heads down, but the projectiles travel too slowly to target moving targets, and you will kill faster with pistol shots than you will with it.
It is one of the few weapons that actually take long enough to kill a target that getting the drop on someone is not a good chance of a kill.
Trial it before you buy it.
  15. Chrysalis

Except the cosmetics are irredeemingly ugly. All of them.
  16. Asan

    No lasher for me then.

Hmmmm, what to get what to get! Just not a fan of the orion. Might go for a shotty.
  17. SixVoltSamurai

Good question, why would you? If you like the Orion, have fun with it. While it may be your favorite weapon that gets it's own pet name, others might just prefer something else, or prefer having more versatility to compliment how they want to play that day. Personal preference is all that matters, and if yours revolves around a static statistic that doesn't account for variables, then have at it my friend.
  18. Ghoest

Its definitely overpowered if you compare it to other starter guns.
  19. TheEvilBlight

Lashers work if you remember how they were used in PS1. Lash a wall, lash around corners, lash a box, lash a door. Except in PS2 it will lash friendlies too.

Don't go into a fight expecting to zap people with it, unless they crouch in the open for big white orbs. In the few occasions I had to fight people in the open with them, I strafed behind a wall of orbs to make it difficult to see, and as I got closer I started putting them on target until the guy died. Of course, if htey kept their cool, their rounds will hit target and drop you.

That's a terrific way to lose to every combat medic or light assault with a cqc rifle and soft point ammo.

Aaaand then you give an argument about how gameplay choices matter, and weapon DPS isn't the be all and end all, and maybe something about a shield if you're especially desperate.
