The PS1 flamethrowers animation was so bad, I can't imagine they'd be able to put them in PS2 due to how badly it'd drop peoples frame rate if multiple people used them, and multiple people definitely would use them there would be no reason not to when assaulting a base, just flame everything as you ran through.
range wasnt upto much, i never saw the benefit of them , even in the biolabs and when we had both arms as standard, the game's engagement range and the fact it's a slow lumbering max meant i didnt have much luck with them myself
