Bunny Hopping

I would have thought SOE would have took the more mature route and avoided the pathetic tradition of bunny hopping in Planetside 2 as a viable means to avoid dying.

Alas, they did not. With headshots being the only way for NC to win in a 1 vs 1 fight due to our guns being complete ****, all I see are TR heavies jumping up and down like morons.

Really, you jump in the air and shoot a LMG and see if you don't land on your ***.

Our soldiers in game are not super soldiers...hell we can barely even through a grenade and fences...we never learned to climb over those in base training. So why can we jump around and shoot high powered guns like we are the star in an action movie?

    Whats next? dual-wielding LMG's

When you jump, unless your a LA using a jet pack, your weapon should either lower, or your aim should so off that you have a better chance of shooting your teammate next to you then the guy in front of you.

Between the already OP HA shield, jumping up and down makes people impossible to kill if your not sporting one of the TR uber guns or VS carbines. half a clip from a Gauss SAW? Wont even touch a TR heavy's health if you do not hit him in the head and he pops his shield. But of course, he will still kill you in a few seconds regardless of where he shoots you with his ultra-fast firing LMG.

yeah, bunny jumping is fairly effective as a TR heavy I find
    too effective

Shush, our superior accuracy while bunny hopping is unmatched. We TR Heavy Assaults can hit every one of our shots to the enemies' heads while bunny hopping. We hope that soon the members of our bunny hopping academy can organize a strike to conquer all the continents!

Seriously, the screen-shaking when you fall is impossible to compensate for, and anybody who thinks bunny hopping while fighting is a good idea deserves to lose every time. Do you really think that bunny hopping is a real tactic as a HEAVY ASSAULT? Hell no.

it's not 'bunny hopping' - bunny hopping implies repeated jumping with the ability to exceed normal speed limits. all you are describing is people who just hit spacebar.

people who jump are free kills because they can't change direction in the air and their accuracy takes a huge hit

all i see is a new generation of gamers who didn't play quake and don't know how to hit something that moves up and down, only left and right.

    learn to aim dude
    • Up x 2

Your accuracy takes a huge hit while jumping, regardless of what faction you are, it's almost ensured death.

Unless you're playing against somebody really terrible or unlucky.

Have you ever tried mashing your jump key in PS2? After about 3 jumps your characters movement speed is reduced by like...75% for a few seconds, not to mention your accuracy goes down the drain while doing it.

So someone who is "bunny hopping" (ps: that isn't bunny hopping, look at Painkiller/quake for real bunny hopping) is rooted to the spot and has terrible accuracy. If you cannot hit the person despite this then maybe it isn't him that is the problem...

    Try Tribes: Ascend.
It'll take care of your problem in a matter of hours, OP!

Having trouble moving your mouse vertically?

Consider it a compromise. All those guys that are only used to Quake style games where you have like 10+ seconds of TTK need bunny hopping. They reduced TTK in this one and left Bunny Hopping for those player in as compromise. So they can be jumping around infront of you and get shot at.
  10. Sienihemmo

    T:A doesn't have bunnyhopping, it's skiing.
  11. MetagamingAtLast

You should try skiing in PS2. Wonderful for not getting fall damage.

Furthermore, jumping twice in quick succession causes you to take a speed nerf when running for the next few seconds. The issues with point blank range encounters is clipping and a lot of people somehow manage to convince themselves otherwise. Someone decreasing their accuracy while pushing themselves up in to the recoil of a weapon is far from a problem.
