A lot of the anti-payers are thinking very short term (as in, what concerns them now.) None of them really consider that a year down the road, the new guys won't care whom has what by spending either certs or cash to get them. The cash shop isn't evil, this isn't a P2W system, they're just being jealous, as is human nature. A good number of them are also making the wrong assumption in that expensive weapons are actually powerful... the SABR-13 says "hi." It's the anti-thesis of the cycler and the TR's higher rate of fire dogma. You would NOT want to have this thing in closer quarters, as it's essentially a gauss rifle, only without a an automatic firing mode, and that means an inherently lower RoF.

Could the weaponry do with being cheaper? Maybe, but I would prefer to help those 1-year-later newbs by giving them a bucket of certs up front, so that a new character will at least have SOME oomph behind whatever they decide to dump those points into. Right now, I think a key problem many are having is that just about every class or vehicle they pick is all but worthless, save for a few that start off fairly strong right away. Namely MBT's, HA, and snipers. If players had the certs initially to invest in at least one weapon and some extras like suit modifications, tools, or weapon attachments, a lot of this whining might actually die down.

But... freebies really could consider dumping at least $15 into this game ONCE and picking up that ever so essential and powerful weapon that will change their performance entirely from being fodder to being tournament champion elite. Seriously, the expected time is long precisely to encourage people to pay cash. One's time doesn't put food on the table, it just gives everyone else something to shoot, and THOSE people might be willing to pay cash, which does put food on the table.

And just to close this off: the only time people will feel prices are balanced is when there's almost no incentive to pay money unless you're REALLY impatient. They already reduced the expected time by 30%.

    Listening comprehension.
He said you have a huge advantage on cert gain and unlocks. People like you try to turn that into a statement about how this means people paying have more killing power because of it, that they pay money to win battles. He is saying in the video that this is NOT the case. I'm sorry but the side-grades available to players are just not that powerful.

It's pretty much default, make sure you have right mouse sensitivit and dont move it too fast, find out how fast you need to move your hand to get maximum turning speed without running out of mouspad to fast =)

    Good luck

Thanks for the feedback and best of luck in the future, sorry for my late respond

A game where you pay to advance faster is not pay to win. That wouldnt be like saying ppl who buy MMO's first and reach end game are paying to win compared to the ppl who just start playing a year later etc. Maybe I missed something in the store but as far as I could see all the weapons there were all available to purchase with cert points. Most of which are not the golden gun style weapons that make the new guy in to a great player they basically give you an alternate style of play. If you number crunch im sure you could come up with stats that show some weapons give you a millisecond faster kill time here or there but is situational.

its still pay2win. every death in a tank by a2g missle pods reminds me about that.

    Pay to win? No
Pay for an instant advantage that can't be counter played effectively without hours upon hours of farm or paying cashie munny? Yes.

Rocket pods are the number one example of this currently.
    Skyguard? 1000 Certs
    Secondary Burster? 1000 Certs

Certs effectively equal power. The more certs you possess, the faster you gain certs and the more you have outfitted your classes & vehicles to be better than stock. Some of those upgrades are merely utility, others make them outright better in terms of defense or offence capabilities. Both sides have merit to the game being f2p and p2w but ultimately at this stage of the game's release, if you have purchased Rocket Pods or saved all your certs for them go right ahead and enjoy your steady cert gain.

jesh with these threads, let it go.

If you are not a god player, you had better pay up or else you won't be unlocking much any time soon. Just got prem + usin booster and it's doubled my cert gains. Most F2Ps are based on that model; sure you can unlock stuff super slow as a freebie but if you pay cash it always, in every F2P I played: decreases the grind by a massive amount. PS2 is no different and infact possibly worse since you are pretty much forced to buy weapons just to experience different play styles/counter others. It's either that or grind for a month per item and ignore class specific certs all together.

Sometimes, i think people dont realize what pay to win actually looks like. Having superior weapons with no other way to acquire other than spending RL currency is PTW... this is not pay to win.

It may be pay to speed up acquiring a new weapon, but that is not pay to win.

Some you clearly have not played other F2Ps. I have played a couple dozen at least and this game is just like them in every way. In most F2P MMOs, the cash shop almost always only sells time saver perks to get around a hellacious grind. It is not often they offer superior items...those that do usually don't last that long. Most those games are designed to 'encourage' you to invest via design.

Again, PS2 is no different than most F2P models and is perhaps worst due weapons.

Having said that, I buckled and paid: I felt I had to just to play 'normally' and not slog it out like a korean grinder from hell.

I've seen a simular system in a few other games and I salute SOE for using it and for releasing this game
  17. Marinealver

It is free 2 play but getting new weapons was designed to buy instead of cert earn with the cert prices. But PS2 needed to seel something and SOE wasn't confident enough in cosmetics and XP/Resource boosters or a mebership priority que. So weapons became on sale.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if they streamed ads in the game like around one of the base monitors and keep all weapons free (or drop the cert cost a little). Give the game some more money for development and if I find the comercial or ad stupid enough I can shoot a rocket at it for my relief.

I've heard about commersials for games and as long as it's moderate and helped in the development of the game I wouldn't mind it.
    Good point

This game is P2W, it stems from the fact that there are quite a few straight upgrades available that give veteran players a stats advantage over newer players.

Veteran player has Nanoweave 5 and a fully kitted out rifle with restoration kits. New player has Nanoweave 1, a reflex sight only and no restoration kits. If the veteran and the new player are of equal skill the vet will always win because he has a statistical superiority.

Now lets put this in a shop perspective (I don't believe you can buy nanoweave type upgrades, but regardless). We have two new players of equal skill #1 is paying #2 is not. #1 spends money to unlock his favored weapon so he can then focus his cert gain onto grabbing the actual upgrades, #2 has to earn certs for his gun after which he then can go use his certs for upgrades. With most weapons costing 1k certs this is a significant time investment which leaves #2 stats-wise behind #1.

Now if we replaced this system where every straight upgrade had a downside (weapon attachments make guns heavier, nanoweave means less ammo or noisier walking etc.,) the P2W argument is much less substantial. Also just because equipping a certain upgrade denies another upgrade does not make it a sidegrade unless you have access to one full upgrade from the start.

Instead it would be paying to get into your specific playstyle faster, which is acceptable.

Another example is fitting out your ESF. If you want to be an A2A specialist you need the A2A rockets, which have pretty much no downsides compared to the fact they make you a much more deadly aircraft. This isn't saying that you can't kill aircraft without A2A's, but you are at a much superior position with them, and losing little for doing so. If I buy those A2A rocket pods with money, all the 500(?) certs that I would of spent otherwise can now go into straight-upgrades (composite armor, performance, etc,.) and again all of these are upgrades, no lowered speed for the composite armor, no lower ammunition for taking a chassis. No detriments at all.
