This thread is to help ppl tweak the userini to help them play the game. Simple just post your specs and post your userini under it . Also if you know how to improve the userini to give us more fps without it really being noticed in the game please do so. My laptop is a gaming laptop Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz (8 Cores) Ram 8.1GB Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit GeForce GT 540M 2.1GB Now this userini i take no credit someone posted it and i used it and it worked great gave me 10-15+ fps. Unless you are limited by your graphics card there's only SOE to blame for poor performance because the game terribly unoptimized. I'm dropping below 20 fps sometimes, quite unacceptable for a shooter. You can't ini-edit away that. If your fps are low in empty areas tweaking may make sense. If it happens in crowded places you're just wasting your time. The only thing that works is getting a better CPU (preferably Intel) to overclock it to the maximum, you may also try that with your current one. Or wait until beta is over but that may take a while (no end in sight yet) and there's no guarantee that they'll ever get it under control without rewriting the whole engine (by adding DX10/11 for a better scalability and multicore performance and such stuff).
Pleas read every one look Game runs great for me with no tweaks update your systems. here look at my specs. [System Specs] MOTHERBOARD INFORMATION Manufacturer:ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Not everyone has an INTEL I7 Processor $$$$$$$$ and 500-SERIES+ GFX Card Quite a few use AMD [Budget CPU] such as myself- and therefore tweaking is necessary. Spam posting your SPECS on every single thread- isn't really helping anyone. ...and is slightly annoying. Render Distance- dramatically improved my FPS from 25-30 to 40-50 FPS AMD FX-4100 (4-Cores) 450 GTS 8.0 RAM Win-7
i7 - GeForce GTX 580 - 6g RAM - SSD - 15mbs LAN i run straight medium no shadows or fancy lights and the game is scary... screen freeze and time skipping, players glitching on map "skipping around" floating tanks, mosquitoes flying though walls... falling though ground... base full of people 40ish no issues small fight with 5-8 TC and 5-8 NC glitches screen freezes player lag... saw a rocket once hover in mid air fired point blank then the NC ran away only to die 5 seconds later on a hill from my rocket...
All I'm trying to do is let everyone know that planetside 2 right now runs good on my system, that's all I here it crashes it don't work for some yes that's true and tweaks do help yes but, most here don't have the computer to run it. and I'm tired of seeing it. Now as servers crash and game breaking stuff they need to work on and more system tweaks and performance stuff but, as far as if a computer can run the game, yes it can if you have the right specs and clean system and drivers updated and bios.
Then why are you on a forum dedicated to people needing technical help/advice/ideas to make their games run better? Surely if you don't like the complaining and you have no issues of your own then this isn't the place for you to be? Just sayin'
I like helping out also I come to the forum to see what they are doing for some server stuff ,updates and tweaks my self also I have lots of friends in the gaming Community. and I see some helping out and find a work around I like to share the info also. and give credit to the person that helped with the tweak or fix. I wont everyone to have a good time in this game the more we are playing and having fun the more we can enjoy playing a Game that will last.
Boasting your own computer specs does not help anyone- "I have an I7 and a GFX card- and a magical flying pony that barfs out rainbows- and money $$$!" Elaborating why the person needs to upgrade- while providing a page with detailed information would be more than sufficient enough to help someone on a greater magnitude than just showing people what you have and they do not! Basically your pretty much saying- "Upgrade your system" while giving a 'middle finger' to the one that needs help. It's simply not a good way to help someone- If you're tired of seeing others pleading for some advice/help- Than I suggest you log-off the forums- and go and enjoy the game. Since you can run it, perfectly fine.
In the .ini file, I noticed you have render distance at a negative value. Maybe it still works for you, but I found that changing render distance to a positive value helped greatly (it defaulted to -1, which made it try to render the entire cont I think; changed it to 1000 and it helped immensely).
