Planetside 2 has been sold. What happens to ALL ACCESS membership now?

With Planetside 2 being sold we need some kind of update on what is happening with our ALL ACCESS subscriptions. I expect at the least a price change since Planetside will no longer be part of the Daybreak Games ALL ACCESS. What happens with our accounts? Are we getting a new Planetside only account? At the least you have somewhat of a hurdle to overcome with Daybreak Cash existing on accounts as is.

Some kind of information would be nice...so hopefully your company is proactive, not reactive, with any information that is being released to your customers.

Typically, existing content remains unchanged in acquisitions involving subscription-based services. Removing content post-acquisition poses legal complexities and is generally considered poor business practice. For companies acquiring another, the preferred approach is to maintain existing content while exploring new ways to package or sell that content.

Removing content could jeopardize the primary revenue stream, especially if that content is the sole source of sustained income.

This assumes, of course, that the acquiring entity intends to continue operating the acquired company. In some cases, acquisitions aim to eliminate competition, particularly if the acquiring company is developing a competing product. The likelihood of introducing a new product under these circumstances is high, though whether it directly competes is another matter. If the motivation was purely to outperform an older, competing product, direct competition through innovation would be a more straightforward and likely strategy than an acquisition.

None of what you said answers the question: What is going to happen with our accounts?

Our accounts are Daybreak Accounts, In this case my account is close to 24 years old from when it was formerly SOE. Since Planetside is no longer part of Daybreak what is happening here? When SOE became DBG no change was needed because the studio was sold with every title tacked on. Now we are seeing the reverse of that happen, with a single IP being sold, which is tied to our DBG accounts.

Now do you see? This also leaves the question of what DBG plans to do with their pricing for ALL ACCESS plans. Even if they have entered into a contract with this new shell company, which again, we don't know wtf is happening.

If you're not confident open a support ticket asking for assurances. Any customer should be able to ask this and if the answers do not instil confidence do not buy the service!

As far as I can see, bottom of this page, Daybreak are still acting as agents for any owner. So they are your go to for any service sold by them.

That's because none of us can answer for the company. If you're looking for definitive answers, don't ask a forum--ask the company. All we can do is engage the topic constructively. Unfortunately, the company will not likely answer you either, as the customer is often the last to find out a business decision.

A lingering and still highly valid question which remains unanswered.

Nothing looks good because they likely don't know either. The business side of the house is probably struggling with what this all means at this point while the developers are probably looking for new jobs.
