I haven't been able to run PlanetSide 2 for the past few days. I keep getting an Error Message with a "retry" option where it would by default say "play".

    Unable to download SocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....live/planetside2-live.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....live/planetside2-live.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....live/planetside2-live.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....live/planetside2-live.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....live/planetside2-live.sha.soeSocketError:Host Not Found (11001) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony....lanetside2-live/live/planetside2-live.sha.soe

Any help? Even though I don't play as often, I still like logging in for the daily certs.

I just got this after erasing the VC++ runtime from the Application Failed To Start error, then reinstalling the 2012 x64 drivers, (I think) the 2008 and 2010 still worked. Anyway, the link below fixed the socket issue:
    Try this old thread:
    https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2...le-to-download-socketerror-unreachable.94803/

But I have done all of the 7b failed to start things, from verifying my files to dependency-walker (ing) PS2 and seeing Xinput1_3 as red without 64 bits, replacing it with 64 bit one, still nothing.

    Reinstalled DirectX multiple times.

This is a used Dell Inspiron15 with a fresh Win 7 home premium 64 bit. Unsure how fresh, but I see no remnants of other installs.

The 7b disk image error says bad image, usually means 64 and 32 bits are mixing somewhere, but I've erased/rebuilt everything I could. Posting this so SOE knows this problem is happening yet again, but all previous solutions, that I've tried, haven't worked.
    (this error: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/43092-63-application-unable-start-correctly-0xc000007b )

    Thanks

Guys we "International Elite Forces" from Cobalt solved this problem 3 days ago and we are allowed to PLAY.. No black screen, launcher work fine....SOE had a bib problem with DNS, so since 48 hours, dependig on your ISP you CAN or CANNOT connect...if you open the LAUNCHER it will simpli get BLACK.

The ONLY and REAL solution is to fix your windows host file as we did the other day. I'm Ciotta I3FS leader and an IT assistan for life.

    I'll repost it here...
For recent LaunchPad.exe problems similar to this...

Looks like there's a DNS issue. Stick this in your win host file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file to get on:

    EDIT host file win7
    EDIt host file win8
This is a workhound till the DNS problem goes away (48 hours top)
Done and it works NOW... source:

If it saves your *** say thanks to International Elite FOrces from Cobalt (i3FS) ;)

First, that fix isn't totally necessary if you configure the firewalls (sometimes).
2nd, that fix will actually cause a problem when the server IP changes, refreshing DNS is safer. But thanks, it did smooth out some things.
3rd, why are there hundreds of posts on the same socket error? Can't people search the web nowadays?
4th, I'm getting 7b still, and the only post I found on it is forbidden (note: I can probably find more but I'm using a trackpad and windows 8 took away my two-finger scrolling, for god knows why)
    here: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/error-0xc000007b-still-troubling.193926/

I up(cough*down*cough)graded from 7 to 8 to see if it would fix this error, but on the plus side I can run visual studio 2013!

Is the IP address been changed ?
I can't find the new one and fail to connect to the login server(crash at 94% before character selection)

Just realized this thread is ancient. Try the wrench in the launcher to verify your game files. Issues with the login server always might just be temporary.
