So, I had to skip playing PS2 for 2 days because of an extremely infuriating issue. I had to download a 150+MB file for PS2, even when there's no update. So, I thought, no biggie. Just let it do it's thing. Then, "download failed", every single time. Checked the log, and also found something. "Sun Apr 20 00:21:19 2014: UnableToDownload - SocketError:Host Not Found (11001 - (IP) - http://pls.patch.station.sony.com/p...zs/55/07c/ed9dcff044b48b3dc877d55895e0e92a7f5 Sun Apr 20 00:33:27 2014: BadFileSig - PlanetSide2_x86.exe - http://pls.patch.station.sony.com/p...07c/ed9dcff044b48b3dc877d55895e0e92a7f5?cb=JD Sun Apr 20 06:17:58 2014: BadFileSig - PlanetSide2.exe - http://pls.patch.station.sony.com/p...07c/ed9dcff044b48b3dc877d55895e0e92a7f5?cb=JD Sun Apr 20 06:33:21 2014: BadFileSig - PlanetSide2_x64.exe - http://pls.patch.station.sony.com/p...017/5d6f881e8d6ec26751633f92df1950b6433?cb=JD Sun Apr 20 07:18:30 2014: BadFileSig - PlanetSide2_x86.exe - http://pls.patch.station.sony.com/p...07c/ed9dcff044b48b3dc877d55895e0e92a7f5?cb=JD" Any suggestions? I'm planning to open a support ticket soon.
A shot in the dark. Disable AV for your file location then re-enable it once finished. Or take ownership of the file location. I have to do this every time I reinstall PS2. I believe it's something to do with UAC but I could be wrong. Or try every 20-30 mins like the launcher says.
I appreciate your advice. I have already validated the files, but didn't seem to fix it. And I'm going to send SOE a support ticket if some obvious solutions (System Restore, downloading on another PC, and moving the files to the main PC, etc.) fail to fix it. I have done the above. Unfortunately, they didn't fix it. I was able to download fine when I clicked the links in the DownloadError.txt file, so I assume it's an issue with the LaunchPad. Also, just for the sake of information, I am using the Steam version.
Quick update. I have managed to successfully get the game to fully download the files and launch it. Did a (failed) system restore and used IOBit Uninstaller to remove junk from my PC and it's registry. My assumption is that one of those may have interfered with the connection, as Chrome was having inconsistent results. My advice to others who have the same problem is to check your PC for any malware or junk files.
Glad to hear that you resolved your issue, DieHard2. Sliced definitely had good advice, also. The only thing I would add to his post was to right click the Launcher and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
