I am looking to get a computer so I can play ps2 but I was wondering if some one could help me find a computer that could run it on low or medium settings under 600 hundred dollars.

Do you already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse?

    Or do you need everything?
  3. Drmusic13

It doesn't need to but if it did it would be nice

I would personally recommend you to stay away from pre-built computers, they offer poor graphics solutions.

Try searching newegg and getting one of the "DIY combos" there are some quite cheap builds, and you can also get a monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc.

If you don't personally know how to build computers than I'm sure someone could help you out if you ask around, or you could search for some video tutorials online and do it yourself.

Honestly if youre looking to get a PC solely to play this game I would just pick up a PS4 as it is launching next month on that console. You can still use mouse and keyboard, AND you have the option of using the controller for the aircraft, which is kinda a big deal as WASD + mouse is cumbersome and non-intuitive for this. Also, less of a chance of hackers/aimbotters AND it is well known that "OMFG" or the recent "performance optimization" update was actually the PS4 port in disguise and allegedly the PS4 will be able to render the game at at 1080p, 60 FPS.

Personally? I'm done with this game.

You can't build a PC for a demanding game like this for under $600 dollars easily. Your best option would be a decent case/PSU combo, like an Antec Sonata 500W(Delta or Seasonic), Gigabyte H81 motherboard, a Haswell i3 or i5-4440, 8GB of RAM, and a decent cheap case.

I'd use the integrated graphics until you can afford a GTX 660.
  9. Drmusic13

OK thanks I'll probably look at Newegg or just play something else.
  10. BlackDove

Definitely use Newegg. You can get really good deals on good stuff. However, with a budget that low, you are likely to buy something that's already underpowered for the applications you want to run, and already obsolete, so you should get something which is upgradeable.

People will likely say to get some cheap stuff that's a complete package, which will likely not last long, already be obsolete, and not be upgradeable. I recommend getting the GPU later and using integrated for now. That way you can put in a good GPU later.

That's $620 total, for the PC itself, without peripherals or a GPU. The integrated graphics will run PS2 on medium settings, and you can easily add a new GPU later, since you will have a GOOD 500W PSU. That particular one is either a rebranded Seasonic or Delta, and they make some of the best PSU's available.

When you can afford to get a GPU, I'd get this. It was recently $150 after rebates. 1.9TFLOPS, and runs PS2 on ultra just fine(along with most games at 1920x1080):

Wow those are really good I'll probably get the parts in a few days, thanks alot.
  12. Americaisnumberuno

Holy **** are you kidding me those are the most ******** possible choices for parts I've ever seen. The guy spent 130$ on a case.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2G2SE

600 and you get a quad core with a graphics card.

replace the 7790 with whatever you want btw i'd suggest a 660 ti (what i use) or a 760.

I'm not a compter Guru so I don't fully see the problem but you know better than me so I guess you could explain

I'll quote myself "People will likely say to get some cheap stuff that's a complete package, which will likely not last long, already be obsolete, and not be upgradeable." I should have added "low quality".

Do you really think $130 for a 500W PSU AND a decent case is a lot?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096&ignorebbr=1 That's the cheapest decent PSU I can find on Newegg right now.

The PSU is the most important part of a build, because if it fails, your whole computer is ******.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112099 Decent cheap case. Still ends up being like $140. With the Antec, he doesn't have to worry about picking them individually, although I guess he could if he wants.

Having a decent case with decent cooling, and a high quality PSU is kind of important for PS2, since the game is known to load GPU's to 100% in the menus for no reason.

Yeah, please explain to Drmusic13 and I what exactly is wrong with the stuff I linked to.
  15. Americaisnumberuno

He's much better off with a 20$ case and a decent 50$ power supply; there's no justified reason to buy an expensive case that comes with a power supply and pay the premium because it's included. The i3 isn't exactly a good choice considering that quad cores are widely used and optimized for modern games and hyperthreading won't cut it.
  16. BlackDove

What $20 case isn't a complete piece of garbage, and has all the fans he'd need to run this power virus of a game without overheating? What $50 PSU do you recommend, and who actually manufactures it?

Well, I guess you don't know much about CPU architecture or budgets. The guy has a low budget, and since this game depends on a high single core frequency, a Haswell i3 with two physical cores at 3.5GHz base clock will give him decent performance, and be balanced, given his extremely low budget for a PC.

Sure, an i5 is better, but the cheapest i5 is the 4430 with a much lower clock speed and is $190. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116895

Like I said before you even posted, people will recommend a lot of different stuff, including low quality stuff that has good numbers. I don't build computers for numbers. I build them for quality.
