A sad time for pilots

The problem of A2Am isn't that they are too strong. They are just WAY too easy to use for the strength they possess. If we keep the current range and lock-on mechanics, their damage has to be reduced to 1/4 or 1/3 of what it is now (ammo capacity x3 then). I honestly can't believe that they will stay this broken for long, but hey, it's SOE.

I don't feel like skimming these pages. Has the OP posted or endorsed any suggested change, or is this thread still just about complaining and randomly arguing?

How about having a couple of ESF as escorts?
  4. Syrathin

The issue is moot since A2A will be adjusted in the ESF patch sometime this month and I don't really feel like we're going to find a common ground on this topic.

I don't really know how you can feel that way. As a solo Liberator pilot I regularly come out on top in 1v1 engagements against ESFs. I initiate attacks against them when I see them.

A typical Lib team has it even easier. Basically the ESF has to be on top of his game right from the start and not make a single mistake, while the Liberator only needs that one opportunity to take the ESF out.

A Lib team with single ESF escort I've seen take on 4+ ESF clumps.

If anything Liberators are too good against ESFs right now.

"less than an hour" wtf how many infantry can you kill in 30 min? you want over an hour per lib?

I hope they reert them to pre PU2, or cut the damage to 1/4th of an ESF, or something...

I really don't want to see my troll-ons nerfed to oblivion.:(
  9. Tekuila

Well, until you realize that air should obliterate ground targets then I guess we won't. :p
(With the exception of dedicated AA)

your ability to shine as an individual should probably not be at the forefront when designing a 3 man fire support vehicle.. fly with an escort or stay in friendly airspace.
  11. Epic High Five

So would you be willing to give up the Dalton's ability to one hit ESFs if they lost A2A missiles? Because it sounds to me like you're sad that they have an option to fight you that doesn't involve staying well within the kill zone of your Dalton (which can kill in one shot) because they have to use their nosegun (probably 5 reloads to bring a lib down with even a Vortek)

Tomcats are literally the only thing in the air game that lowers the skill floor enough so that it's not just 10 people per server who are effectively immortal, farming everyone and everything.

Anyway it takes like 4-6 Tomcats to bring a Lib down. Pop fire suppression or flares and get some friendlies under ya.

I guess I've just sat and been bombed to death by Libs despite dumping 2-3 full extended dual burster mags into them just to MAYBE set them to smoking too many times to really be too concerned that there's a single thing in the entire game that is difficult for them to counter, when everybody else has to deal with a laundry list of **** that can wipe us out before we spot it.

Schwak, it's all good. SOE apologized in the ESF update thread for their horrible mistake with the missiles. It's a for sure thing they are getting nerfed. The only question is when. The date is set sometime this month, so my best guess is 3 months from now. Only 3 months we have to wait!

Bro, most of Notorious, QRY and TGWW have quit the game. Before this game started going ****** directions we had plenty of escorts (*******)

Fix flares so they aren't on a cool down but use actual ammo, like you know, flares . Each cert you put into flares gives you more flares to use. Used up all your flares? Go resupply. Why this hasn't been put in is beyond me. Oh wait.....

    He won't so I will.

2/3 Libs lose to many things. The only thing that doesn't hurt libs are kobalts, AI mines, small arms. Everything else does damage. Similar situation to ESF no? Here is the problem. The liberator suffers from some pretty awful design mechanics. It wants to be a helicopter and a AC-130 at the same time. Due to this, Lib pilots such as myself will do some pretty unorthodox **** to achieve the destruction of various targets.

"Thats wonderful Soques, so seriously what should you lose to?"

Libs lose to bad posturing with anything over 3 sources of damage(except for maybe Rangers lol). Attack vectors are seriously misunderstood in this community. Please take into consideration how a liberator would need to posture against 2 ESF. Those 2 ESF if flown correctly will utterly destroy the liberator. Most likely though 1 will die and the other will mop up. Fair enough.

    What currently kills me most:

    1. Bad attack run (Intel) - Not knowing what I am getting myself into, too slow/fat to recover/get away. Fire is now death for libs so we got a bit of a health nerf recently thanks to gravity changes, which are apparently working as intended. **** happens when you party naked.

    2. Good attack run gone bad - While diving a target I failed to notice a tank. This is usually rare with experienced lib crews, most of us only dive when we are really sure we aren't going to get an AP round up the ***.

    3. Renders sniping - 1 or 2 ESF or more as of late using default nose guns to from render distance burst me down. This can be dealt with via experience and ******** flying.

    4. Lib yin yang - This is the part where two libs will circle each other until 1 pilot out postures the other or the gunners manage to get the lead right.

    The role of A2Am:

I think that it is pretty obvious that this point that the role of A2Am icould fill the role of supplemental weapon by which new pilots will learn to ads/track enemy planes with their plane to help learn to lead for nosegun. We all know that the damage on the nosegun is superior in TTK but its hard to land all shots. If A2Am go to a model of having to track the target, I will have absolutely no issue with the amount of damage they do. Flares would need to be modified as the new missiles would be more like laser guided rockets. Ideally flares would stop effecting these but would continue to affect ground launchers.

I know this is already long. Bear with me. Argument about ESF -

There has been talk about the limited capability of ESF. I would like to point out that the ESF is the best aircraft if not vehicle in the game. This is for a number of reason, some of which are shared with Liberators.

    • Best mobility - Fastest vehicle in the game also flies
    • Cheap vehicle cost - 250 Air resource
    • Versatility - ESF can engage any target in the game and can bring appropriate weapons to improve this effectiveness.
    • Weapons per player - Only vehicle in the game that allows access to 2 weapons for 1 player without a seat swap.
    • Scaling - Numerous ESF are the best possible outcome of air resources. This is due to their versatility and small form factor relative to other aircraft.
I would in turn ask what is the point of the Liberator when two people are plainly more effective in 2 ESF?
Please understand that I wrote this while wanting to sleep. Any and all slander is unintentional and I would appreciate insightful commentary in response.

The other day my buddy and I flew around esamir on Miller and raked up kills with our liberator without anyone in the tailgun. The shredder literally shredded everything, pointing down at the enemy below or belly flipping around to utterly dominate any ESF foolish enough to get let me get a shot at him.

I had 90 kills when I entered the liberator and 170 when I exited about 40 minutes later, we died a total of 2 times and killed lots of ESFS, MTB, Lightnings, Sunderers and many many squishy little NC and VS.

We actually had a tailgunner the first 10 minutes or so, but since it was more effective to turn the belly towards the ESF an take him out with the shredder he decided to bail out from boredom..

I used to think liberators had a tough time, but after watching my buddy pilot that thing I know it is just a matter of experience and "skill".

I won't say "l2p", but I will say this; if you keep dying as a liberator from A2Am, you got plenty of room for improving your own flying.

Yes ill second Irathi, Ive seen some of those BRTD libs.
  18. Yuukikun

BAHAHHAAH you can't stay 1 hour in the lib without dying? Poor thing :c I suggest you try other things than easy mobiles see how long you can survive.
  19. Bush82

yep this would fix the problem with air. as it is flares are not that great. also flares do not protect you from nose cannons and flak so this should be put in. you can even use the mana turret to take out air units.
  20. eldarfalcongravtank

Schwak, i'm surprised players like you still bother flying that slow deathtrap called liberator. it gets eaten alive by ESFs, it gets shredded to bits by ground flak, it gets spammed to death by ground-/air-based lock-ons and it gets sniped out of the sky by tanks

seriously, the liberator is so highly underpowered i feel it's actually a PLEASURE when my outfit gunner (who isnt bad!) manages to catch some unaware infantry and a tank before we get finally killed by an ESF group
