I have both Hades and Lancer. But back in the old days, Hades was the only available anti vehicle weapon. Hades' advantage over Lancer would be on High Ground, shooting long distance targets because the targets would be a bit too far for Lancer to hit accurately. But, that is the opposite, Beyond a certain range, Hades would just not lock-on because the target was too far, and even if I was able to lock-on a long distanced target on high grounds, 3/4 locked-on rockets would just missed the target and hit the ground (seems like strikers always hit me when they are on high ground, I dunno). But for Lancer, I was still able to hit the moving targets quite well. closed up to mid range, do doubt, Lancer is far better.

Some of you argue that Lancer is trash on closed up indoor battles, yes you are right, but why would I bring a Lancer for indoor?? I would just change to another load-out and bring S1 and chew them up.

Others argue that engineer's Anti Vehicle mana gun is far superior than Lancer. You cant compared the 2, they are totally different. One stays stationary to hunt down any vehicles, and the other is to charge into enemies with his/her LMG to kill infantries while swap to Lancer to kill tanks, that's why u called it HEAVY ASSULT. or I'll call it Heavy Stationary Anti-vehicle Specialist.

Here is why I like the Lancer

It is my fourth-highest scoring weapon behind Photon Pods, Hailstorm and Pulsar C and I only have a silver medal on it so far. Sometimes I do abuse it a bit and plink a single shot on six different vehicles when all hell breaks loose for maximum assist opportunity, but I normally I play it straight, one target at a time (unless a better target shows). A fair number of my kills with it are probably opportunistic single-charge shots to finish burning vehicles and no other weapon can do that as quickly and from as far away as the Lancer.

Goodness knows how many vehicle kill assists I have with the thing, but it must be loads.

On Woodman we possibly have more Lancers than average as I regularly hear the "Lancer Chorus" in those situation when I decide it would be a good time to pull it out. 'Tis a glorious experience to hear the whine of Lancer capacitors straining and seeing distant tanks detonate in cheerful clouds of smoke and flame.

    Great catch!

Just looked at my stats, and while the Lancer is 22nd in kills (191), it is my 3rd highest earner, right below the SVA-88 (with which I have 2400 kills) and the Supernova PC (with ~1000 kills).

I'm going to use that to advertise it. The thing pays for itself and then some, even if someone buys it with certs.

I trialed the Lancer and I want it NOW.. Its great for just pestering armor and getting that last shot on MBTs running away while on fire. Yesterday I trialed it and pestered prowlers and lightnings attacking east canyon from the hill next to the palisade.

I love my lancer, I use it 24/7 on my heavy. It opens up a ton more opportunities for kills that other launchers don't give. I run with AV grenades and c4 to compensate for my lack of firepower that a dummy rocket brings at close range. A 3 charged shot will kill a smoking mossie or harasser.(two 3 charges take to flaming) Not to mention snipers I cant reach with my LMG, a 3 charge shot and a quick 1-2 after, gg. MAX sniping!. The lancer takes some time to get used to, but once you get used to the velocity, it wrecks. The only downside is the wretched reload speed...

I guess people don't like it because it's balanced more towards being used in groups. Imo, it's the most balanced ESRL.
  7. JudgeDeath

In your server people dont have strikers I presume ? :D
  8. Sossen

Do you think people kill any really skilled pilots with strikers?

  10. Sossen

    Yes.
  11. Rayden78

Have you tried yourself, its really not easy to hit a good flying ESF with lancer, sure you can spam single fire, but as soon as range is a bit larger its very hard to hit.
  12. Sossen

I've used it quite a bit. Level 3 charge is the way to go, it's essentially like trying to hit an ESF using a sniper rifle with a very high bullet velocity. Sure, you wont hit all the time, but you only need two level 3 charge hits to bring it down.

I agree. I think most people who complain that it is underpowered either don't know what balance is or spam all 6 shots. The only time I spam shots is when I am trying to freak out an ESF.

And even moving around while aiming isn't so bad for avoiding exposure. In most situations you should be firing over a rock or something anyhow and you move up just high enough to skim over the top of the rock.

I love the Lancer and think that it is tremendously powerful. I wasn't so jazzed about the Vortex because of the lack of zoom, but I'll buy them when they go on sale. So far got one of them, just waiting for the other.

2 level 3 charges at best left him burning (unless he's not at full HP of course), you can get one shot and then they start running away in strange patterns usually. Most of my ESF kills were against already injured ones, though there was one time I got 2 almost full HP mossies with 2 lancer shots in a row, that was partly luck (the 2nd shot at the 2nd mossie was really awesome, when I got him I couldn't help but shout "OMFG EPIC SHOT", in fact, that 2nd one was left burning and crashed afterwards, it wasn't a direct kill). The fact is getting ESFs is really hard, specially if they're skilled and fly in unpredictable patterns.

And before you say anything, I'm the player on Waterson with the most kills with the Lancer and #4 across all US servers, I know what I'm talking about.

All that said, I think the only buff the Lancer needs is to make sure that 2 shots kill a ESF, no matter if they have composite armor, getting 2 shots is REALLY hard, it should be rewarded accordingly (and fixing the charge bug ffs, we've been dealing with that since the introduction of the weapon).

Wow, I forgot about that website, though for me, the Lancer is only 10th highest scoring (323k), but the tankbuster?! is number one (1,065k).

    whos complaining abou the lancer?

I think the OP s responding to dead threads before they fixed it.
  17. Pudgeinabowl

No competent player whines about the lancer being ****. They complain because it is quite literally game breaking at low coordinated numbers. 6 people with lancers and minimal basic squadwork, and suddenly there are no more vehicles in that area. Period, they just die.

Get 12 and you just spam shots at ESFs and those explode as well, lvl3 charge and libs explode without a warning.

Seriously, learn to play the game Vanu, TR would have that weapon for about 10seconds before we got it nerfed/broken by patches. Even if it shot peas, the mechanic itself is OP. The fact it does a decent amount of damage is just the rocket powered cherry ontop of everything.

I want zoom because it's a quality of life improvement - it's convenient to see the target, though not necessary.
Besides, zoom seems logical for a long range weapon.

As for sniping people, if such becomes a problem (I don't think it will), simply lower the damage versus infantry.
I want zoom for AT-purposes, I already consider the Lancer useless versus infantry so AI damage doesn't matter to me.

Here's why people say the Lancer's damage sucks; (I'm unsure about the Lancer's charge-time - assumed 2 sec)
The Annihilator deals 1200 damage, takes 3 seconds to lock on, and 4.7 seconds to reload.
    1200 / 7.7 ~ 156 DPS.

The Lancer deals 1500 damage, takes 2? seconds to charge, and 5 seconds to reload.
    1500 / 9.0 ~ 167 DPS.

The S1 deals 1700 damage and takes 5.2 seconds to reload.
    1700 / 5.2 ~ 327 DPS.

The Decimator deals 2000 damage and takes 5.7 seconds to reload.
    2000 / 5.7 ~ 351 DPS.

I'm waiting for your VS profile showing a lot of kills with the Lancer, because you clearly don't have any clue about how hard it is to hit a moving ESF (unless he's stupid and hovering or flying at low speeds), a good coordinated group of ESFs can easily clean a Lancer nest. Lancers can shoot down Libs, I've done that too many times, but they can't create a No-Fly zone, that's something only the Striker can do.
