[Suggestion] New Class Secific Explosive: Scatter Bombs

    Scatter Bombs
    A tool slot item
    75 Infantry resources
    Rank 1 100 certs for 1 Bag
    Rank 2 200 certs for 2 Bags
    Rank 3 500 certs for 3 Bags
    Rank 4 1000 certs for 4 Bags

Scatter bombs would be bags of tiny sticky grenades about the size of large marbles each with blinking red lights, The LA would tip the bag in to his or her hand and throw them in a small arc in front of them almost if they were sowing seeds. They would then stick to whatever they hit ala the engy's sticky grenade and detonate 1 or 2 seconds after hitting something, so their explosions would be staggered. While in flight the LA wouldn't spread them so much but also wouldn't give them much distance as it would be more of a drop than a throw.

Each individual explosive would do very little damage but would bypass flack armour on targets stuck to. Collectively it would do more damage than any grenade but not quite as much as C4. It would be able to damage hardened armour but at 20% damage penalty meaning if you tagged a lightning with 2 full bags it would do about 1.5 C4's of damage. Although it has a long draw time between bags so it can't be spammed.

I was inspired by the best source of inspiration Batman, as it would allow a LA to swoop past a group of infantry and do a little bombing run or as a escape tool as throwing down a wall of explosions could easily deter perusers.

    Any Feedback would be great.

Is this instead of C4 or in addition to C4?
Also, I don't quite get the purpose of this, seems like creating a minefield? If so, then it would more suit engies than LA.

And LA has to go a long way to compare to batman. We can't swoop, we can slowly waltz through the air. Gracefully and unhastily. Come on, it's not like there's a war around.

It's Instead of C4 as in it takes the same slot, and it's like a whole bunch of little grenades. It would be allot more fluid than C4 and would fit the rapid and mobile nature of the LA class.

The LA could throw it and litter a area with little blinking lights that explode in rapid stream of little explosions a few moments later.
Think of the attack chopper fight at the end of Water hazard In Half Life 2, it has a panic mode attack were it litters the field with inflatable bombs for them to explode in sequence a few seconds later. It would be like that but condensed down to a much smaller scale and time frame.

    Edit: Video!

As PS2 forums INSISTS on converting it to a inbed the point in the vid is 22:28

Well, that would be nice, but unlike panic chopper in half life 2, LA can't fly, and especially we can't fly and do something else at the same time. At best, we can hover over something while dropping explosives.

This is an intentional hyperbolae, all I mean is LA needs to be faster and more mobile first, then we can talk about adding tools and such.
For a class core mechanic JJs are severely lacking in speed in fuel.

It's not just for bombing runs (That LA seem to be able to do fine with C4 anyway), It's also great for any kind of attack from odd angles or just as a form of defence as throwing it then retreating would create space as a smart player wouldn't run towards the grenades and their harder to avoid completely than a conventional grenade.
I could see it synergiseing well with smoke grenades to spread confusion and panic to tightly clumped enemies.

The main problem I could see with this item would be the size of the AOE that it produces. Look at the game now the damage area of all infantry born AOE weapons is fairly small. A trend that wont change because could you imagine the tears? So lots of small explosives spread across a wide area is probably a no go.

This would either get the large spread like you suggest and be pitifully weak damage wise making it useless or the AOE would be small and the damage high making it C4 with a weird spread mechanic that makes it more annoying than C4 to use.

Also making it timed rather than detonated means it would have to not damage vehicles because it would be way to easy to suicide run sundies with.

Well It wouldn't be good for suicide running sundies as you would need the full 4 bags to destroy a non blockade armour sundy and the time between throws would mean you would be effectively the same as if you were shooting it with rockets. The damage would effectively be the same as getting hit by maybe a zepher indirectly and not all at once. With flack armour you could laugh it off as long as you were not stickied and without you on average would lose your shield and maybe half your health. But of course you need to be right on top the bombs to take damage and more bombs that detonate on or right next to you would affect how much damage you took, A smart player could avoid taking much damage at all but a smart LA if they used it right could easily straight up kill some one with it even if they had flack armour as they could cover them with grenades then make sure the stuck target stayed in range of the remaining bombs.
It's not necessarily all about getting kills, It could easily soften up targets for allies or just for the LA to pick off.
