Which settings are gpu intensive?

    Hello

    With the new game update my "not so fresh" computer runs PS2 better than ever.
    CPU: E8500 @3,8ghz
    GPU: Gtx 260
    4GB Ram

    However i get around 30~40 fps. But must of the time the gpu limits the fps.
    Are there settings that use rather GPU than CPU?
    What can i do?
    1. Lower settings which are gpu intensive. Which one?
    2. Rise settings that are cpu intensive but not gpu intensive. Which one?

    --------

    This is the most GPU intensive settings, though I oddly enough get better performance with this then the games set max highs

    Change renderquality to like 1.40000 if you want to pretty much effectively turn off the games AA, but at a big performance cost

    Come on!! You also. Stop spewing crap about the magical 5 ultra settings. 4 is and has always been the ultra setting. And now confirmed by devs also.
  4. Luewen

    Shadows and particles are the settings that cpu calculates. So if you r GPU bound mostly, you should lower texturequality, modelquality,lightningquality and renderquality to try to get few extra fps.
  5. Odin

    No particles and shadows are done by your gpu.
  6. Luewen

    No they arent. Particles will be done on GPU when physx support for nvidia cards is finally enabled.
  7. BenYeeHua

    We will know it when it is enable.
    And yup, shadows is done by CPU, this is known by everyone that disable it to decrease CPU bound.:D
  8. Nacasatu

    Backup your own settings then replace with these...

    Code:
    GraphicsQuality=1
    TextureQuality=0
    ShadowQuality=0
    RenderDistance=1000.000000
    Gamma=0.000000
    MaximumFPS=250
    UseLod0a=0
    OverallQuality=-1
    LightingQuality=1
    EffectsQuality=1
    TerrainQuality=1
    FloraQuality=1
    ModelQuality=1
    VerticalFOV=60
    ParticleLOD=1
    ParticleDistanceScale=0.600000
    FogShadowsEnable=0
    MotionBlur=0
    VSync=0
    AO=0
    Should be more than enough to get good FPS, max texture quality (0), no shadows (wreck your fps) and if you're not happy with the picture quality then change the "GraphicsQuality" to 2, then 3, then try 4 for ultra, settle on whichever one you're happy with in regards FPS hit against how good it looks. Should also drive the game to be GPU bound rather than CPU. Again, up the GraphicsQuality setting to one that suits you best, leave everything else alone tbh with your PC build.
  9. BenYeeHua

    Try this.:)
    UseLod0a=1
  10. PsyStorm

    What does this change exactly? What is the difference between UseLod0a=0 and UseLod0a=1?
  11. BenYeeHua

    Reduced LOD for far object if I am correct.:)
  12. PsyStorm

    Which one does that mate?
  13. Rago

    Sound settings, particles , some TErrain texture stuff, imho
  14. Wolvers

    In the official help section it says to reduce sound quality, to reduce CPU load, but how is that done in the .ini? Seems odd to me that there is no way to do this inside the game, yet it's recommended by on the official site! :confused:
  15. BenYeeHua

    UseLod0a=1
  16. BenYeeHua

    MaxVoices=120
    SampleRate=44100
    Only might be affect 1FPS
  17. Nacasatu

    You won't really gain any FPS out of changing sound settings, but, you can do the following which might help you if you really want to try gain an FPS or two...

    UseFloat32Output=1
  18. bishopau

    Also dont forget to play around with the renderquality slider in game as well. Other than shadows it makes the biggest difference to your fps.

    Also I think renderdistance at 1000 is too low. 1500 is my minimum.
  19. Nacasatu

    It depends on your play style really. Put it higher if you're a flyboy or driver.
    Mainly infantry player like myself, what with the low player render distances anyway, 1,000 is more than enough.
  20. Wolvers

    Why increase max voices? In game the hint says that reduces performance.
