Ultra Low GRAPHICS Still Cannot Deal with Small Battles

I have my settings in game all the way down. No render distance No Rendering Everything else off or on the lowest setting possible ( the game looks like **** BTW now ). I still get BIG hang ups in almost every confrontation whether it is 3 people or 100.

Can someone please tell me how to solve this hitching / stuttering / Lagging problem I get in every battle.

I have all my start up programs shut off. I turned off page filing for my drives. I have the system and graphics card set to max performance.

I started noticing this performance hitching when they introduced the new stealth skins for infiltrators. whatever patch that was.

Thank you so much. I am desperate.

    try these settings.
Set your overall settings to everything low. then set textures to ultra. and game quality to medium. render quality 75%. and v sync on.

  3. Wonabe

    well according to https://www.planetside2.com/faq
    Minimum System Requirements
    • CPU - Core i5-760 or better / AMD Phenom II X4 or better [Quad-core CPU]
And thats 2.8GHz, you do not have that and that might hurt. From the looks of it you got a laptop, so you might wanna check its harddrive too.
  4. Undyingghost89

Ondeed. CPU clock is most important in this game, having a 2ghz CPU will not run this game, no matter if its an i7.
  5. Uplins

You have 2 gpu, GTX560m and intel hd graphic 3000, game maybe use second1.
Try to disable intel gpu in device manager.
  6. astartes

    Thanks guys for responding.
The weird thing is up until 2 months ago when they changed the way cloaked infiltrators looked the game never stuttered on my low settings.

Its just weird I feel like it has something to do planetside updates or nvidia driver updates.

    I will try your suggestions
  7. astartes

Womabe, What do you mean check the hard drive?
  8. itechen2

problem is your expectation. this game is horribly optimized and not really scalable (turning things down for better performance)

i seriously doubt your hard drive has anything to do with it like Wonabe mentions. Hard drive full, bad sectors, corrupt files stuff like that can be a big problem but it wouldnt just be the game that would suffer. if you have the money buy a SSD drive for your laptop, that is about the only thing you can upgrade yourself. but again i doubt you would see any difference.
curious though, what skins are you talking about?
  9. ciotta2013

1st agree with others saying your config COULD BE not enough to have a decent PS2 experience.
BUY we need some more infos on that....

If you press alt+f during game you get FPS and [CPU] or [GPU], this give's you the name of the most stressed equipment you have.
Is it CPU or GPU ? I think GPU..but you have to answer to that.

    Your CPU
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00GHz

    Your GPU
    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce GTX 560M
but it meets Ps2 minimum sys req...https://help.soe.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36590
What does it means...you can PLAY but you have to use GPU wise graphic settings, so anything related to shadows, particles, flora, and lights..can be set FIRST to MINIMUN only when you reach decent perform you can test other values.
terrain tex quality is related to RAM keep it low too, at least @ beginning.
    Read this page...
    http://planetside.wikia.com/wiki/Graphics_Guide

    YOUR RAM....
you have 8GB ram but i see as available only 4...so it means that PS2 has to run with just 4GB... not enough

    Suggestions:
CPU, as someone said your is probably not enough...but you can ever try the following.

    1) check the power options settings in control panel and choose high performance so that your cpu never slows down when its not being used fully as it never is in this game. If the laptopp has it's own power manager fix it to run TOP/MAXIMUM performances.
    2) keep CPU fan clean and let it have a good airflow, too hot cpu performs badly, laptop cpu are usualy to hot or slow...

    3) keep your win installation light on ram consumption using app like CCLEANER, find what is relevant to load @ startup and turn off the rest. Remember that anything that load before Planetside steal resources to it...
SO close the browser, close Steam, close any other unwanted app during game..If you feel unable to do so...RAZER has a nice app to help you on the job...http://www.razerzone.com/it-it/cortex/game-booster

    4) Disable AERO http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-aero-on-windows-vista/

    5) Keep Windows settings to minimum...right-clicking Computer icon from your desktop or from the Start Menu and choose Properties, and on the Computer properties window, on the left pane of the window we are going to click Advanced System Settings, click Options under performance tab, than choose the BEST PERFORMANCE option, an maybe just FLAG the "smooth fonts edges" refer to picture...

    6) unpark processor cores

    PS:
SSD will only improve your game loading time, just that, it will not change your in-game performances

Thank you to everyone for helping your fellow players. Unfortunately, the cause of this particular issue is very likely the speed of the CPU not meeting the minimum requirement. Although, you have an i7 CPU, it is very important to meet the speed of the i5-760, which is 2.8GHz. You may be able to turn down in-game settings to help improve the performance, but the best solution is to always play on a system that meets or exceeds the recommended requirements. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If that's the official stance, then the minimum-spec may be worth editing, because to all and sundry out there, a 2nd-gen Core i7 CPU appears to be "better" than a 1st-gen Core i5; Clock speeds are not mentioned.
  12. Wonabe

If it full, old, corrupred, fragmeted, slow by itself, or whatever else, basically everything. Simple HDD speed test would say alot already. Also antivirus if exist should be removed to get any prerfomance from laptop.

Most of the advice in this thread is terrible but not having any security software is really bad.

He needs to CHECK for malware and secure his system with stuff that works AND has low overhead.

Do the steps in this thread and if you have a useless antivirus that slows your system down, replace it with thensetup inrecommend here. Its all got free options.

    https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2...-malware-removal-and-mitigation-guide.193468/

Then he needs to get rid of unnecessary junk thats running in the background.

Make sure its set to only use the Nvidia GPU and put it on max performance in drivers.

Set power settings to high performance in Windows.

And most importantly: TURN OFF SMOOTHING IN PS2!

Also the thing about CPU clock speed isnt nearly as straightforward as whats being said. The architecture of the core is also extremely important: core, cache interconnect, memory controller, PCH interconnect etc.

For example, people with 8 core AMD CPUs at 4GHz will have performance similar to Intel CPUs with 4 cores at 3GHz!

The stuff being said in here is just mind blowingly oversimplified.

Had a similar issue this summer. No matter what I did it ran slow. When I reinstalled the graphics drivers it would work great, but after a reboot it bogged down again. Installed a widget for my GTX 560 to monitor its GPU and found it was maxxed out during idle. Found malware (that MS security essentials ignored) that was using my GPU to mine for bitcoins... Scan with malwarebytes!
  16. patrykK1028

    Nice rabbit man.
And the game is installed on SSD, right?

Mostly because hardware in the mid range hasnt changed much in years, and things are getting more expensive as the wests currencies become more worthless.

We currently have several threads about people who downgraded hardware but thought they upgraded just because what they had was older.

AMD has CPUs and GPUs rebranded now as"new" products that are from 2011!

Nvidia now releases their small(ends in 4 like GK104 and GM204) as their 80 series card, then releases the big(ends in 9
0 like GK110) as the next series.

They didnt do this until the 600 series. I agree with their strategy since they have to make money, but most consumers are so uneducated and the marketing is so dishonest from all thse companies that it makes it difficult for them to know wtf theyre buying.

The thing i disagree with is rebranding old chips like the 7970 to a 280 and the 680 to a 770. The low end chips are even more confusing.
  19. RocketPoweredCrow

Your CPU cannot handle this game. 2.00 Ghz is not enough to run this game without hitching. A possible fix would be upgrading your laptop or choosing to invest in a good gaming desktop.

Also, lowering your graphical quality doesn't help a lot in Planetside 2 unless your GPU is a potato. The game isn't that graphically intensive. It asks way more from your CPU.
  20. Dawoud55

you said you have a i5 FOUR CORE thats pretty bad for planetside 2
