Why are people always calling A2A missile skilless?

My point of view is : Bad at dogfighting and using the main gun = use a2am missles
Thankfully i got my m30 which lets me 7 shot a a2am jackkass upclose ;)

You actualy believe a lib and a gal can do that so easily? it is hard enough for an ESF, if the one locking you happens to fly up and lock you from the top instead of being dumb and chasing you.

Terrain helps like 20% of the time, the other 80% basically means you are dead, I thought overusing the thing would actually enable the devs to use some common sense and nerf it, my time was wasted, still I am not the least bit surprised.

I ignore lock in my lib, unless I'm on fire.

I will ignore lock in my reaver for the first shot.
I will flare your second shot.
I will be long gone afterburner towards my gate while your trying to get your 3rd lock.

I would been dead along time ago if you knew how to use your main gun.

When your rocketpodding someone on the ground it's even cheesier than lock on.
It's not even like it was 1hit kill. If someone is ONLY using lock on missile, he will need 3 to kill you, FOUR if you have flare and FIVE if your haft good and are able to at less get behind cover for one of those 4.

I just bough the 250cert laser gun for the scythe and it takes 80% of the hp of a small plane in one burst. Since most plane are flying in a straight line or hovering, how is a lock on missile better?

    THIS
Thank you for giving me back up, I was loosing hope.

    Topgun.

    Watch it.

Any monkey can wait for a computer to do your job, be a man and guide your rounds on target.

LibertyRevolution didn't say lockons werent skill-less. They are, obviously. But using a high-skill weapon like the nose gun is better (if you have the skill for it).

So the question is, why use A2AM if a nose gun is better for skilled pilots to use?
    Obvious answer.
  8. FlawlessRuby

Your just being bias now. You can't just say they are and that's it. If you need to plan your shot and be high in the sky and blabla that mean you need skill to set up the terrain before going in.
  9. Antivide

Because dodging an A2AM is like playing slots at a rigged indian casino.

Sometimes you win. Most of the times you lose.

90% of the time you're taken to the back closet and beaten to death.

Those who can't avoid them are shown to be talentless scrubs. This is why they call them skill-less, they are speaking into a mirror.

Looking forward to a lot less allied and enemy garbage in my skies. Should be great for folks on the ground as well.

Nothing more amusing but watching people trying to convince themself.

No amount of damage will change the fact that Lock-on is skill-less for the simple reason that an AI is doing the job for you. I'm not even sure why you are trying to deny that.
  12. mjrcooke

If you are using A2Am means u sarcifice speed and target variety for a focused role. They should be powerful. If you guys die to one its your own fault...you can evade 4-5 rockets easy...
Afterburner 1st, flare next, take 1-2, afterburner again.... If i get a lock on you and you dont notice me, means i got the advantage over you and you should be on the defensive.
Your ranting is similar to the ranting of infantry regarding rocketpods.
Use afterburnrr pods to counter a2am.

    Here's my take on it.

If I've taken the time to equip A2A missiles instead of rocketpods, basically reducing my effective air-to-ground capabilities to zero, it's because there are a lot of enemy aircraft.
Now it's nice that each pilot thinks of himself as the king of the sky whom nobody should dare engage in nothing less than honorable 1on1 dogfighting, but you're not. You're simply not that important to anyone but yourself.
I've got to take down your ESF and quickly move on to the next to remove pressure on my platoon on the ground. Empty a clip of Hailstorm, switch to missiles, fire, switch back to hailstorms, quickly dispatch the target and switch on to the next.

TL: DR get over yourself, pilots.

You want a guns only dogfight? Go play IL2, or RoF. You will have plenty of those. Also, it actually takes more "flying" skill than moving your mouse around like in PS2.

Want to feel good about being a modern air combat simulator "pilot"? Go play DCS with Flaming Cliffs3, or Falcon BMS. Then come talk about "skills" and "dog fighting". And guess what....the R-22, AIM9, and AIM7, are all lock-on missles.

My gosh, air combat in PS2 is just any other FPS with a different skin.

Seems some rocktpodders have tried to make using A2A missles sound dirty, because they got sick of being run off when farming. Call me cheesy, cheap, skilless, whatever...I will continue to use A2A missles, and enjoy doing so. Get flares, and then shoot me down with your uber "dog fighting" (lol) skills. Then come whine on the forums again. I believe thats the process.

Lol, so with that logic, no one should ever complain about a weapon, because no weapon is OP. No matter how genuine the complaint, it's never OP because it kills the enemy right? And it's all about neutralizing the threat. No one cares about the game being fun or whether or not another player should be able to strip away your 1337 certed ESF with 2 mindless missles, right? All about killing the enemy.

It's all so clear now. I say we petition for a nuke! Wipe the planet clean of those heathens and then we can finally do something other than waste time killing the enemy!

Note:: that this was posted after a very recent buff to A2A that makes it even harder to dodge one.

What is the problem here? Your ESF with an AA / AG loadout got destoryed by another ESF with a full AA / AA loadout? You feel just because you're not packing an equivalent anti-air arsenal that your opponent should show some mercy and ignore his purposefully superior air-to-air arsenal and engage you in a dogfight?

My point remains, get over yourself.
