    hi all :)

right so ive gotten to work on some magrider stuff: the idea for this was to make something a little more sci-fi and bulky, whilst keeping it VS. I personaly ingame think the mag tries to be sleek: but it really doesnt fit the playstle or size: so with these im trying to bulk it up:

origianl concept (im not good at drawing)

First bit of work: the lumifibre was done for a friend to give them ideas on how to start: but if they dont use it i may just submit it :) only the cannon/cockpit are started but it should give a good idea of the vibe i want!

Do you have any brighter images? I can't really see anything but the Lumifiber, aha.

    the fashion show arrived...:D

to be honest, i am a big fan of the cyan lines on the front of the maggie "turret" (on the rightmost magrider). those look cool

but the purple stuff is overkill imo. sorry

like i say the pink is for a freind: and wont ever make it in with this set, this ones all teal :)

ah bugger ive lost the file, ill make it again tomorrow morning (been busy all day getting back my spot on the PS2 leaderboards, damn these scallywags who try to use the phantom more than me)

Right :) ive gotten back to work, and got the rough model up, the geo is horrific on the lines, and its still a bit squishiy, but it should give a good sorta of idea of what im going for.

on the central side fin the lines are wonky as ****, and ill probably go remodel that whole wing.

and if someone could let me know if we are allowed to use lots of reflective stuff/glow thatd be awsome: I know the esper helm does, so can i put the same sorta sexyness on a mag?

You'll probably want to be careful that it doesn't nullify lumifier.

Yes, there is glowy sections on the Weapons texture sheet... somewhere. I don't know which part is for that though.

This looks really cool! And, as a TR player that likes fighting at night, I'm glad all of the Player Studio Magrider armor cosmetics have glowy bits. You can't turn that off, so easy pickings for me :D

    i love it!! great work!

Thankyou all for the nice feedback :) <3

also any opinions on the cannon? i kinda like it

Cleared up the dodgy fin geo and also went and added more detail as requested by someone on my fourms :)
now all we need is word from tray that we can use the nice chrome bits ESF's get :D

You may be in luck Fizz. The Magrider actually shares its texture sheet with the Vanu ESF ( only MBT that does).

That detailing is awesome man! My only fear is it may be too small. Go too far away and it'll be a mess of jaggies (jaggie maggie hehehe).

its not the ESF textures but the cool chrome ornaments they get.

anyway here is it in P3D. one we know the poly count i may cut the wires off the underside.

i also have a copy with no wires if they are too small, but considering the plates vanish at distance due to LOD i dont think it should be a isse

    Holy bling Batman...

it looks really insanely awesome but i for one would rather like this as lumifiber. because it basically screams "shoot my magrider" when you cannot turn it off and try to flank the enemy

I think this looks pretty cool. Maybe a bit too much illumination, but a cool concept anyways. Definitely feels like vanu to me.

Some stuff I notice looking at the p3d... the topology is really questionable. It's leading to lots of weird shading/pinching and looks like crumpled aluminum in many areas. I feel like if you stick with this concept, it'd be best if you redid the base pieces with a lot less polygons, while paying attention to how they look with specular. For the illuminated etching, I'd try using a plane snapped to faces, and make the designs that way. You'll save a lot of polygons and get the same effect. You have a few areas where you're extruding details just for the sake of it, like that front piece on the top. It's just blue squares, it doesn't really add to the design, but makes it look kind of blocky. If you clean this one up, I can see it being pretty popular.

yep im going to work on cleaning up the topology this morning.

@zulthus i assume thatll give it the effect but will be 2d, not having depth to the lines? I might try that, i like having depth but it seems to add too many polies

right i continued to cut polygons but still have a hard time getting it with depth and getting a decent face count:

    - There still are a few vertices i can cut on the wings, but no where near 8k :/

without edgesplit (looks organic but has low polies) (

    Armour: http://p3d.in/XbFQU

Whole tank: http://p3d.in/HUBYG (looks kinda cool subsurfed :D)

    With Edgesplit:

    Armour http://p3d.in/s1Biv

However without any depth itll weigh in at about 6k polies. so i may sadly have to use that :/

new version: flat; doesnt have depth to the lines but this means it uses considerably less polies :)

    Standalone http://p3d.in/t4CI9

With composite (the magrider in the files doesnt seem to fit the composite armour? especially the front?)

    thankyou all :)

I got started on the UV's but before i can work further i need word from T-ray that i can both:

    - use the lighting the lumifibre has (very importantif i cant get this ill need to have 3d armour, instead of the 2d pattern: which will drive up the poly count a LOT)

    - Use the chrome effect from ESF ( http://i.imgur.com/PPfmcfo.jpg Not as important but would be nice)

    hi quick update!

according to tray we can use all the materials on the sheet: so would it be smart for me to wait for PS2view or to submit, but add a big PLEASE MAKE IT SHINY YO tag in the text doc?

    thanks everyone!
