There is no ascension class with anything remotely 'healery'. Etherealist is dps and group buffage The other three and dps and mob debuffage.
There is no point to take anything but Etherialist for any class because it's dps is ten times better.
My goemancer would beg to differ... At least until the nerf-bat hits. Even then it's a valid option for some.

But u need all ascension classes for the combos. I really the elementalist maybe because it's debuffage And geomancer is nice with its obsidian mind For solo play (coz that's mostly what i was doing when i chose my asc class) i chose a class which would go well with my mitigation debuffs. So ether with illu and elem with warden and of course geo with bruiser. Still need a thaumaturge. But as defiler u'll group most of the time so u can really feel free to choose. But too many people took etheraliste. Others are good too, just maybe not as flashy
Obsidian mind does have a long cast time, though once upgraded, and with the ascension level 10 Geomancer ear, it is more reasonable during combat. Until it is upgraded, and you have that ear, pre pull is certainly more palatable given the long cast and short duration. If you also get the Myth wrist, it adds elemental/arcane resist to the physical resist the spell already has, IIRC.
i's can be good for pulling. As tank i'm usually stunned or dazed or stiffled just after the pull and can't taunt. it helps. also on some named where u are stuck for a while, like in Stronghold. Sure .. close mind is better but it's solo. obsidian is group. It has its uses. but I agree with the cast time ... shoudl be halved at least or increase the duration
