try before you buy issue

I was able to create a try before you buy character, got it to 96, and I am unable to unlock the character to keep it. I have scoured the internet looking for a reason for this, and a work around. Do I have to buy the heroic character token in order to unlock this toon?

Yes, and since you hit 96 you can only do so on the character select screen.

There was an issue recently with unlocking heroic characters from character select. Has it been fixed?

Yes there was a message of the day saying they can be purchased from character select.

An issue recently surfaced that is causing problems when upgrading to heroic characters through specific means, so we've locked them for now. Upgrades should be fixed in an upcoming patch, though I don't have insight on when specifically that will be happening.

i have a question if you try a character first but have a token to claim will it unlock the character or do you still have to pay for it
