In a time before the Cataclysm came to Norrath a small group of friends journeyed to Qeynos from Freeport. The leader was an old Dwarf called Broun Minerson at the high age of 421 he only saw it fit to lead the group. The called they The Iron cross, a small group of mixed race people forever bound to each other. The group consisted of 5 members; Broun was the Cleric and worshiped Brell Serilis as any true dwarf would. Valan, a barbarian from the north of Norrath. Aorenis the group's ranger, quick with a bow and skilled in taming wild beasts. Ilson Brinkelspire a little joker and the groups black sheep, an Illusionist with a hang to tease everyone and everything. Then there was Amagram, a Vah Shir and Paladin of Mithaniel Marr.
Twenty years ago these people didn't even knew of each other's existence. Broun was a Cleric in the service of Brell Serilis, dedicated to serve his god and one day become a priest. Valan was a tribe leader of a barbarian tribe on the northern boarders of Freeport's rule. Aorenis had a family and lived in the Felwith forest, a simple wood elf with no wishes of anything more in life. Brinkelspire was a magician performing in various parts of Norrath, but he had a little error. He couldn't leave shiny things alone and so he ended up in Kaladim prison. Then there was Amagram, faithful servant to The Tribunal and son of a rich Vah Shir merchant. Broun was given the task of putting Brinkelspire right and teaching him the wrongs of stealing.
Being a gnome, Brinkelspire wasn't simple executed for stealing church property. Aorenis was travelling to Freeport on orders from the high council. Valan was captured by a squad if Freeport guards for trespassing on Freeport grounds and put in prison. Amagram escorted his father from the moon of Luclin to the market in Freeport. Broun and Brinkelspire were in Freeport on the market day. As no surprise Brinkelspire couldn't keep his hands to himself and at a stand next to that of Amagram's father he snatched a necklace. Unfortunately for him the merchant noticed and called on the guards. Broun tried to explain that he would of course have Brinkelspire give the necklace back and apologise to the merchant, but the guards wanted to put him in prison. Having given his word to teach Brinkelspire the errors of his doing, Broun couldn't let the guard's pull off with him, so he reached for his mace. Amagram saw this and interfered. A servant of The Tribunal he couldn't just stand and watch this go on, there had to be a just way to deal with the situation. In the end they all ended up in prison, Amagram for interfering, Broun for drawing weapon on the guards and Brinkelspire; yes, for stealing. They all ended up in the same cell, Broun, Brinkelspire, Amagram and Valan. Amagram's father tried with out luck to buy his son out of prison and once the market day was over he had to leave the city or get thrown in prison for attempt of bribing a city guard. In the night Broun decided to the hell with it all, they would never get out of Freeport alive. Brinkelspire used his abilities to open the cell door and they made a prison break. Amagram wouldn't follow them since it would not be the right thing to do, just to run off. Valan had to knock him unconscious and carry him. Knocking down a few guards they made their escape. Few days later they meet Aorenis and spend the night in his camp. The next morning a patrol tracking them showed up. Aorenis' tried to tell the soldier that he had only just meet these men the past evening, but they didn't care to listen. They would all five be brought to justice and executed. At this point Amagram thought soldiers or no soldier this was not justice, he would rather fight then be executed like a criminal. They fought the soldiers and escaped together all of them, later with the help of the dwarfs they were all cleared of charges, but would any they ever again break any law on Freeport ground they would be brought to justice. Since that day The Iron Cross has walked over most of Norrath fighting any foe and helping people along the way. Brinkelspire stopped stealing; almost. Valan left his tribe to his son and Aorenis left his family. Broun was offered a place in the Church, but turned it down. Amagram went home and became a Paladin, then going on the road with the others. A strange mix of people, but faith sometimes bring even the strangest opposites together.
