Suggestion For PvP: Guild Based

Already the PvP test server is having the same troubles that cause the PvP servers to be the least popular of EQ2 servers. The 2 faction, alignment based system is quite frankly awful. It is going to break down to the point that entire zones are "owned" by one faction or another with occasional attacks by another faction. Worse, high level players griefing with impunity even when their own side despises what those players are doing.

Then there is the whole issue of not being able to mix and match classes freely for raid content. As its already been said in the exile thread not having access to all the classes causes some big shoes to not get filled in a raid force.

Maybe the entire Qeynos vs Freeport thing is good from a story perspective, but it isn't good from a mechanics perspective and it certainly isn't good from a PvP perspective. In a pvp world there isn't any reason why you should think that complete strangers are allies.

So to open up PvP (and limit griefing) change PvP to be based on guild membership. As long as you belong to a guild, you are flagged for PvP. If you don't belong to a guild, you can't participate in PvP. You can only leave a guild in certain restricted "safe" areas, like the guild registrar of each city.

Then throw in a system where guilds can make temporary alliances that last for a short duration (say 1 day, 1 week or max 1 month). Oh, and get rid of the silly faction based languages.

This should take care of a lot of problems. New players won't be griefed until they have a guild to support them. Players can't suddenly drop guild to avoid PvP. Raiding isn't hampered by alignment. The number of potential PvP targets have nearly doubled. And you get to hang out with the people you want to.

Guilds would also become huge. Small guilds would put you at a definite disadvantage, but it means you get to control your own PvP experience. When your starting you join a big guild, learn and get geared. Then when you want to fight the world you join a small experienced guild. Or you could be absolutely suicidal and form a one-person guild. Play your way, eh?

Terrible idea. If they made any change current populations would support it would be factionless, meaning anyone you aren't grouped with can be attacked, it is the main reason people are still angry about no Exile. They've already announced they will allow classes on both factions, so this has nothing to do with a deeper meaning of good vs bad, selfless vs selfish.
