I'm an old EQ2 player who has not played since about 2008(computer died), it seems Station Exchange servers are no longer up and running, is this true?

If so, is there is a still legitimate way to sell plat in the game?

Yes, the station exchange servers have indeed been removed.

You can sell plat in game for kronos, which is an item buyers of plat can purchase from soe and trade with you in in exchange for plat (or anything else thats tradeable). You don't really get cash from that though, but rather gold sub.

So it's now impossible to make real-life money from selling plat?

Correct, you can no longer make money, real life money off selling plat anymore

That is what I thought, thank you.

Disappointing though heh, but I'm glad to learn I can pay for a gold subscription via in-game means.
