You can turn off the TLE spam by turning off "status" messages in your options (you'll miss some warnings about things through). What's really curious is that there was no mention that there'e some kind of big month long world event that's started. Don't know what it's called, I only heard about it in general chat. Edit: Sure hope this time it isn't a secret, I don't want a reputation for spoiling things anymore than I already have.
