Research Sticker Shock

Had a WTF moment today when I completed a 30 days research on a Master for my Channeler. Selected another lvl 90+ spell to research from Elite to Master and could not believe that Instant Upgrade went for 600SC to 1470SC!!
I have done a few instant upgrades in the past but will not ever again. Unless I can hit a lotto then it'll go from never to almost never.
If the idea was to help boost the prices on the broker I can see it. Somehow I doubt that's why it was done
