Devestation At Sea! Two islands near the coast of the Thundering Steppes were subjected to an immense catastrophe just yesterday, one being the location of the port town known as Sailor's Retreat and the other an uninhabited island a few miles away. The cause of this atrocity that took at least a hundred lives was a being who was identified by the Qeynos Guard and by Concordium mages as Renita Lux'Kall, previously thought dead and whom had in fact been very much alive up until yesterday. The mana signature surrounding both the uninhaibted island and the area of sea where Sailor's Retreat once existed matches that on Renita's body. Her corpse was found on the uninhabited isle where she had been in conflict with traveling monk and researcher Atzila Kol'Olmin, the latter whom our reporters were able to interview at the battle scarred landscape where the remains of her opponent were located. Atzila Kol'Olmin told us that Renita Lux'Kall was in fact an eldritch entity whose name is a word for disease in the Common Tongue that begins with the vowel "Ph" and who derives power whenever a person refers to her by name. Though Atzila refused to ever refer to Renita by name for this reason, we have inferred that the true name of this creature is "Phage". Our reporters have reasoned that since Renita Lux'Kall is now dead, it is now safe to speak her name out loud. Atzila urges us to the contrary, though we believe that she is simply erring on the side of caution. We on the other hand are of the opinion that it is a risk worth taking in order to bring the truth to you, the reader. Surrounding the battlefield were a number of ruby baubles, thirty in total. Those who have touched this artifacts have all recieved visions and tell of how the baubles are the harvested essence of worlds that the Phage has destroyed in pursuit of power. This is believed to be similar to how the Void are known to have destroyed other worlds in the past, though Concordium mages have concluded that the Phage shares no common magical origin with the Void itself in spite of the similarity in their M.O. In any case, Renita Lux'Kall, one of the most heinous mass murderers of our time, is finally dead.
Renita Lux'Kall - A Retrospective Over the years, Renita has been known as many things. Strategist, Caster, Wife, Mother...Murderer. Now that Renita Lux'Kall's true nature has been exposed, we at the Qeynos Express can finally bring the full extent of her crimes to you, the reading public. After analysing a sample of the residue left on Renita's body upon her defeat at Atzila Kol'Olmin's hands, both the Concordium and the Qeynos Guards have been able to match the magic signature to that of a number of unsolved murder cases in the past. With the help of the Celestial Watch's finest scryers, we have been able to confirm that all of these so called "eldritch" cases are all the doing of Renita Lux'Kall, who has in fact been all but one of the four women known to have gone by the Renita name all along. This is possible via a hive mind that has been connected through each of the four bodies as a result of her nature as the now newly documented Phage entity which is an incarnation of evil itself. The only exception is a sophisticated golem created in the image of Renita's "Lux'Kall" identity in the wake of her disappearance, a golem created by a rival of this Phage entity to con those around it into thinking that it was Renita Lux'Kall. It was this golem's death that the Kelethin press reported when they had erroneously declared coverage of Renita Lux'Kall's demise in the midst the Viperidae incident perpetrated by Renita Lux'Kall herself using the aforementioned Viperidae alter ego. Provided below is a timeline of all of the known crimes perpetrated by Renita Lux'Kall in each of her four bodies. 6th Stargazing, 5962 A.N - Renita's first known crime was commited whilst still simply under the name of "Renita Angelus". The first of the (until now unsolved) "eldritch" cases, this entailed the cold-blooded slaughter of a private investigator named Harold L. Forge who had long been based in Qeynos. His death coincides with Renita's arrival in the Castleview Hamlet mere days beforehand in the weeks immediately following the discovery of the Overrealm. Scryers report that with the aid of the eldritch residue found on Renita's corpse, they have been able to witness a clear vision of the events surrounding Harold L. Forge's demise. He was knowledgable of the Eldritch Realms and had noticed the signs that Renita was no mere High Elven woman, proceeding to track her movements in the days following her arrival. In the end, he grew too close to the truth and Renita followed him to his private residence, using her eldritch powers to brutally murder the man and cleanse his house of any trace of his research into her true nature. Renita then proceeded to mask her eldritch nature once again using the power of the "veil" that was later left behind in the form of a corpse at the site of her death. 13th Warmstill, 5962 A.N - The second of the "eldritch" crimes, again commited under the persona of plain "Renita Angelus", four days after the Prophets of Mithenial Marr and Cazic-Thule publically unveiled themselves. The victim this time was a five year old Qeynosian girl named Sally Thorne who had been born with potent oracular abilities. After she had spoken to the Celestial Watch of a ruby eyed monster in her dreams that wore stolen faces, a story that was reported in our very newspaper, she was murdered in her bedroom on the following night, a mutilated corpse almost unrecognizable as human left behind along with an aura of eldritch magic hanging in the air. Our scriers can now confirm that this was once again Renita's doing, having infiltrated Sally's bedroom and used her eldritch abilities to muffle the sound within it's walls, proceeding to tear the girl limb from limb using a set of tendrils that she manifested from the base of her spine. 22nd/23rd Oceansfull, 5963 A.N - Now using the Renita form that would soon come to be known as Blight and later as Viperidae, Renita kidnapped Vagabond Knight Zorgin Zalaphres and held the Vagabond Knights to random, torturing her captive for an entire week before he was finally rescued, sending one ransom note in a package also containing a severed finger. Following Zorgin's rescue by his comrades, Renita abandoned her physical vessel to evade capture, returning to that same body roughly a month later after it had been retrieved by her accomplices at the time. It was there at the sight of her first alledged death that Renita encorperated voidal essence into the second of her bodies to create a physical veil that was pure voidling in nature. 1st Firstchill, 5963 A.N - The member of the murderous Butcher organization who went by the name Blight was caught at the scene of a crime, attempting to massacre a contingent of Freeportian guards and taking at least two lives in the procees. She was unmasked as Renita in her second incarnation (believed to be a seperate individual to her first and third incarnations at the time due to stories of alledged doppelgangers and impersonators) and subjected to an attempted execution by the Freeport Militia. Due to the voidal essence in her physical veil, however, Renita's second body was later found to have simply regenerated within the confines of the Obelisk of Lost Souls. In any case, Renita retired her second form for a full year after this point. 4th Deadening, 5963 A.N - The third of the "eldritch" crimes and the first to be commited using the body that Renita dubbed as "Renita Lux'Angelus" and which was later known as Renita Lux'Kall following a short lived marriage. Just over a month after the failed execution of her second body and less than a month after the rediscovery of Kunark, Renita slaughtered Fae Journalist Violeticia Oakwing a week and a half after she had submitted an editorial to the Kelethin papers outlining the reasons why Renita's alledged past was not what it appeared to be. Like the earlier Harold L. Forge case, scriers can now confirm that Renita entered Violeticia's acorn in the early evening and tore her to shreds, erasing all trace of her findings using eldritch magic. Since Renita's victim in this instance was a Fae, Renita also took Violeticia's spirit bud and hollowed it out like an apple core using eldritch power, ensuring that future generations of Fae never learn from her research. 15th Blossoming, 5964 A.N - Days after Bertoxxulous prophet Hrath Everstill began his plague pandemic and former Seeress Ealaynya Ithis of the Celestial Watch was unveiled as the first of Rodcet Nife's prophets, Renita commited the fourth of the "eldritch" crimes. Again in the form of Renita Lux'Angelus and third body, Renita targeted Priestess Fidelia Silverheart of the Celestial Watch after Fidelia's uncannily strong spiritual senses allowed her to briefly glimpse something sinister about Renita's aura during one of her visits to the Celestial Watch. Scriers can now confirm that Renita ambushed her during the night after she had noticed Fidelia watching her during her succecutive visits to the Celestial Watch. Renita shredded both Fidelia's mind and body using eldritch magic after having confronted the Priestess about what she had seen, having not yet spoken to her colleagues regarding her suspicions. 14th Firstchill, 5964 A.N - The fifth of the "eldritch" cases occured on the night before Renita's wedding day where she adopted the surname "Lux'Kall" for the first time. In this case, Renita (again in her third body) butchered a Fae Mathmatician named Hypathene Fairbloom in the woman's own home after she had approached Renita privately about how the late Violeticia Oakwing's article exposed all kinds of mathmatical inconsistancies in Renita's alledged past that could not have occured in actual history. Scriers now confirm that Renita once again shredded her victim's mind and body using her eldritch abilities as she had done with Fidelia and hollowed out the Fae's spirit bud like she had with Violeticia to ensure that her knowledge was lost to future generations. 20th Deadening, 5964 A.N - Now known as Renita Lux'Kall and still using her third body, Renita commited the sixth of the "eldritch" crimes on the outskirts of the Frostfell Wonderland Village. Scriers confirm that following the soulbonding ritual, Renita's third body had been damaged in a way that placed the physical veil at risk of deterioration, meaning that her cover would be blown and she would be seen for her true nature as the Phage unless she could channel an eldritch energy discharge elsewhere post haste. To this end, Renita kidnapped a number of Frostfell Elves and pumped them with eldritch magic in order to stabilize her own body. This had the effect of mutating the unfortunate Frostfell Elves into eldritch monstrosities that remained in the wilderness for an entire year afterward, unseen by the populace of the Frostfell Wonderland Village at large. By the time that the beasts were caught and slain just over a year later, Renita's third body had fled Norrath altogether. 31st Stargazing, 5965 A.N - A day following the retreat and disappearance of Renita's third body known as Renita Lux'Kall and a day prior to the emergence of the short lived golem that was mistaken for Renita Lux'Kall (which was in-fact created by a rival entity known as the Jester), Renita once again focused primarily on her second body, which had since been given the alter ego of the Butcher Viperidae at the start of a one person Butcher revival. It would be two weeks before Viperidae would be unmasked as Renita's second incarnation and during this time, she murdered over two hundred people, including at least fifty guards. In addition to these crimes, Viperidae also infused Fae spirit buds with voidal essence drawn from her veil's abundance of voidmatter, transforming the buds into tentacled monstrosities that were dubbed "voidmasses". At her base at the Sunken City, Viperidae was unmasked and caught. After this, she was subjected to another execution that ultimately resulted in failure. 31st Scorchedsky, 5965 A.N - Now in the fourth of her bodies, Renita once again took the name of Renita Lux'Angelus in a form that was distinctly Ayr'Dal-like in appearance. It was in this boddy that she commited the seventh of the "eldritch" crimes. As Tinkerfest was getting underway, a gnomish inventor named Frazzle Foozlesworth declared that he had invented a headpiece that would allow him to detect various kinds of energy, one type among them being eldritch energy. Sciers now report that Renita traclked Frazzle to his workshop and disembowled him, proceeding to obliterate both his sole working prototype of the aforementioned headpiece and any copies of his schematics using her eldritch magic. 12th Lastleaf, 5966 A.N - Out at sea, off the coast of the Thundering Steppes, Renita re-emerged in a unified form that combined all four of her previous bodies, purged of the voidal essence that her first and second bodies had possessed and once again in the visage that she had adopted as Renita Lux'Kall. Her power greatly increased by the power of her former wife's love, Renita proceeded to vapourize the island of Sailor's Retreat (claiming over a hundred lives in the process) and ravage a nearby uninhabited island where she was confronted by Atzila Kol'Olmin. Scriers confirm from the visions given by the ruby baubles left behind on Renita's remains that she had used eldritch magic from her love-powered transformed state to collapse entire worlds, thirty in total, drawing power with which to confront Atzila and raising the death toll that day into countless trillions in the process. Fortunately, Renita was slain once and for all by Atzila, who is said to have discovered her sole weakness. At last, Renita's long reign of terror was brought to an end.
