It would be nice if the proc for the common and uncommon familiars was always described in the tool tip even though the proc does not become available until level 5. That would let you decide which familiar would be best to level as some procs are better for melee and some better for ranged characters. The tooltip could say that the proc becomes available at level 5. Another option would be to have all familiar procs available at level 1. It's not like the procs are that powerful on the common and uncommon familiars.
