You weren't killed by AoD then thats for sure. And yes I read through huge combat logs all the time, the red text is usually a hint that something bad is happening to you.
Hmm. I remember seeing text that so and so (always a player character's name) killed, and then the name of my merc, and also other mercs. Otherwise, it was the name of the puppet and then "killed (player character's name)". This happened to my merc (and a lot of other mercs) repeatedly with Baelon one time. I saw in the main chat that a specific character had killed my merc, followed by other mercs being killed by that player character. And my characters (and mercs) were killed sometimes by Theer, according to my chat log. Was never grouped with others when this happened. I am really wondering now. Was there a bug with the puppets that was assumed to be Aspect by everyone? If so, it could happen again with another event.
