Leaper won't Leap

So just quested for the leaper mount and it is acting just like a horse, rears up when I hit the space bar and jumps no further. I took safe fall off space bar but nothing, selected defaults nothing, help!

It does that if you're in a no-fly zone. Where are you trying to use it?

Tried in Butcherblock where I got it but now I am in the withered lands and still nothing

Also does that if you are crouched or using it as an appearance mount by accident. Check.
