I was wondering if someone could suggest a decent laptop that does ok with EQ? Not looking for high end sine I prefer a desktop. I'm selling my home and will be traveling, so I don't have much time to wait for shipping unless they're really fast!

I'ds like to be able to plug in a mouse (those roller thingies make me want to smack my head on a wall)

Also, will need wireless for wi-fi. Does the wi-fi work ok at hotels/camping grounds etc?

    Thank you! :)

Frankly, I would never trust public wi-fi, too much of a security risk. Some of those are set up by evil peole to get your personal files and info, others are set up by nice peole trying to be helpful.

There is no way to tell them apart.

My current desktop plays EQ II with just a video chip on the motherboard; however, when it rains in game or there are several players in the same zone as me my computer tends to slow way down trying to show changes in the zone.

I use 'balanced' in game settings.

I wont suggest a brand as I have been about 5 years away from working on computers.

As long as it meets or exceeds the minimum standards, you should be fine.

This game has low requirements today. Therefore, many are good (just note what Dude said here). Choose the most reliable (in metal case and with good cooling), because when traveling it matters more than at home. I hope you take into account all kinds of risks, but just in case, I would like to remind you that you need to take care of protection against possible theft of laptop. You are probably aware of the special "prey" program and related service. (perhaps not one of a kind) https://preyproject.com/

I second the cooling! I played on a laptop for several years.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your help!

The hotels don't offer secured wi-fi? I'd never log in to any misc connections. As it is, if I upload photos to dropbox, I only turn it on when I'm at home on my service.

Likely vary from hotel to hotel. And make sure its actually the one from the hotel. Scammers aren't above naming theirs the name of the hotel, or something similar.

Kibah, in google earth etc. you probably won't find directions
for lodging/hotels with secure wifi :( . And this is not surprising, because

Get 4G or 3G Internet access on your laptop (it's much safer, but you won’t play streaming EQii). Or read also this:

    Or use it:

(most likely game needs to be added to exception if you use protection programs)
