Homes and Tomes is opening its doors!

The award winning construction and interior design company is expanding its employee roster.

    Do you enjoy interior design?

Artisan furniture construction more to your liking?

We have a home for you!

Positions also open for warehouse guards and office staff.

Submit applications to a recruiter near you!

From the guild forum (the forum will always have the most up-to-date information):

    About the Guild:

Homes and Tomes is a guild for anyone who loves decorating, crafting, books, or roleplay (not necessarily in that order).

For the most part, we are a casual-to-normal guild. Hardcore isn't our style. We realize real life comes before gaming. There are no penalties for disappearing for long periods of time, although we do prefer that you let us know if you plan to be away from game.

We are Roleplay (RP) Lite; some members RP constantly, while others do not RP at all. Roleplay is not required. As long as you are respectful of RPers and are not blatantly out of character in /say or /yell, you are welcome to join Homes and Tomes. RPers in Homes and Tomes should be just as respectful of those who choose not to RP, as those who choose not to RP are to them.

With that in mind, we do encourage roleplay amongst our members. We have a rumor book to foster rumors about each other and the guild, and are working on putting together a guild tavern. The guild (or "company," as it actually is in character) has a history, although it is a rather simple one--the guild is a company owned and run by Jazabelle Wra'Eth.

The company itself is neutral. Members have had their fingers in both altruistic and sinister situations. Homes and Tomes turns a blind eye to its employee's non-work dealings, as long as they do not reflect poorly on the company.

Out of respect for those who do not RP, guild chat is entirely OOC (Out Of Character: spoken in the voice of the player, not the character).

Any drama should be strictly in character. If drama begins to spill into OOC, we have problems. The guild is meant to be a relaxing retreat from real life, not an angst magnet.

We have a Facebook page. This page is mostly used as a method for us to pass you important news. All posts from the Facebook page will appear in the News feed on the Home page of the guild website. Having Facebook is neither encouraged nor required.

We are a level 95 guild with a T3 guild hall off of the Commonlands. Both good and evil characters can easily reach the guild hall by finding the nearest world bell and selecting the Commonlands to travel to.

Our hall has all the necessary amenities for a crafting and decorating guild, as well as a decent number of amenities that are of interest to those who engage in combat. Visit the guild hall's Information Desk for more information about what amenities we have, as well as where in the hall they're located.

    Information about joining the guild:

If you are not already speaking to a recruiter, please contact a recruiter via the Guild Recruitment window if you would like to join the guild.

Please inform the recruiter that you have read this post.

Keep in mind that we are a guild of decorators first and foremost. Anything aside from decorating comes second. We do have some members who enjoy combat, crafting, or roleplay more than they enjoy decorating, but they're patient with us decorating nuts.

If you are joining this guild thinking you will have daily or weekly groups somewhere, think again. If you are joining for leveling partners, we're not the guild for you. If however, you're joining this guild for people to chat with as you decorate, craft, roleplay, or run groups, or to look at your home creations and give constructive feedback, we just may be what you're looking for.

That isn't to say we don't sometimes run groups together. We do. And that isn't to say that we don't sometimes level together. We do. But that also isn't what the guild is about, so if that's what you're looking for, you'll probably want to look elsewhere.

Homes and Tomes is a guild of adults. If you are not above the age of majority in whatever country you reside, please consider another guild. We do not wish to have to deal with an irate parent or guardian when their child views an off-color joke in our guild chat.

If you are applying to Homes and Tomes, you are asserting that you are over the age of majority (that means you're an adult) in the country of your residence.

If you are someone who minds mature humor, this may not be the guild for you. We do enjoy the occasional joke involving bodily functions or sexual reproduction.

If cussing offends you, you may want to consider another guild.

Our members do not spout cuss words in every sentence, but we have been known to drop the occasional <insert letter of your choice>-bomb when we feel a situation warrants it, or we are distraught.

We do not tolerate racism. We do not tolerate sexism. We do not tolerate bigotry of any sort. Differences of opinion, lifestyle, and gaming style are accepted and embraced by the guild.

If you cannot handle the policy of "live and let live," you will want to look elsewhere for a guild. Our guidelines are simple--if it is not harming others, and is not against the Terms of Service or the Rules of Conduct, we will not police our members over it.

That means that if someone wishes to farm old raids for platinum, they're welcome to. If someone wishes to powerlevel their character, they're welcome to. If someone wishes to powerlevel someone else's character, they're welcome to. If someone wishes to spend their time exclusively in town roleplaying, they're welcome to. If someone wishes to never engage in combat, and to level to 95 crafter while locked at level 1 adventurer, they're also welcome to.

Live and let live. We encourage all of our members to play in the fashion that is most fun for them.

The same rules that extend to playstyle extend to lifestyle. If someone's sexual, political, or religious views are not in line with your own, live and let live. If someone in the guild enjoys carrying around leopard print umbrellas while belting out sea shanties, that is perfectly acceptable!

If all of this sounds reasonable to you, then you will likely find Homes and Tomes to be a good fit.

    Joining Homes and Tomes:

You will join the guild as a "Construction Worker," our recruit status. Construction Workers have almost all of the rights and abilities of a full member.

You will remain a Construction Worker for the duration of at least two active weeks of play, and the accumulation of a minimum of 5 guild points. To learn about how to obtain guild points, please click here.

    You can:
    • Use all of the amenities
    • Craft using the items from the harvest depot
    • Edit your personal note in the guild window
    • Deposit money and items in the guild bank
    • Purchase status items from the city merchants
    You cannot:
    • Withdraw money or items from the guild bank
    • Withdraw items from the depots
    • Change or add calendar events
    • Mail the entire guild
    • Invite new members
    • Display the guild tag or heraldry
Should a Construction Worker require an item removed from the guild bank or depots, they may request it from anyone of higher rank. Please keep in mind that other members are engaged in their own games, and so it may take a little while for someone to obtain the items for you, but you will receive your items eventually!

If you have read everything stated here, and still wish to become a part of our family, please contact a recruiter via the Guild Recruitment window. Be sure to state that you have read the information about joining the guild.

Your code word is "Mooooooooving!" (Not really, but we like cow puns.)

So you've read Jazabelle's outline of the Guild in the above post and your still interested....

Let me pose the following questions: Are you tired of the adventure grind but love decorating your houses? Are you new at decorating and looking for a guild that has members that can support your creativity? On another server looking to start a new alt or transfer to AB to focus on decorating? If any of these apply to you then you might find a good fit with Homes and Tomes.

Speaking from experience on all those points, I joined Homes and Tomes almost a year ago coming from another server and I have to say that Jazabelle has been a fun and relaxed guild leader and a wonderful mentor.

I also enjoy mentoring new decorators since I know how wonderful it is to see someone blossom in their creativity.

If this type of guild appeals to you come on over! Send us a tell! You don't have to be an uber decorator to join! We just want to have fun with other decorating enthusiasts!

    Cheers!

<Homes and Tomes> has moved from New Halas to our permanent home in the South Qeynos T2 guild hall!

We are still a neutral guild, but with the recent influx of members, we needed a bit more space. Welcome to everyone who's joined us.

    We're still recruiting!

Edited the post to reflect the new guild webpage and recruitment information.

    Recruitment is still open!

We're still recruiting, and our harvest depot is fuller than ever, thanks to the generosity of both guildmembers and not-guildmembers!

If you're a crafter or a decorator looking for a home, we may be just what you're looking for.

You don't need to be a "professional" decorator to join us. If you're just starting out, or even if you have no interest in decorating at all, we'd love to have you! As long as you're patient with us crazies, we'll be patient with you crazies :p

We've had a slow trickle of new members asking the question if we're still recruiting. The answer is yes. In general, we're pretty much always open to new members (except when we're not).

    Right now, we're open!

Just let us know how udderly awful our puns are when you message us, and we'll get you started with joining the guild.

The guild is level 95 at this time, with a full set of amenities and a T3 hall. Whee!

We engage in bi-weekly House Rallies, where we tour some of the awesome homes on Antonia Bayle, pointing out the features that made us choose the homes in question. Each House Rally has a theme. Check us out if that sounds interesting to you! (House Rallies are open to anyone, not just Homes and Tomes members.)
