Good idea to "borrow" from rift

In Rift you have the ability that when you loot a corpse it will also loot all nearby corpses thus saving you lots of mouse clicks it has the option to turn on and off this ability should you not want to loot everything. I sure wish we could have this option in EQ2 as I am one that must obsessively loot everything at least twice. Please and thank you in advance.

    Yeah, its a cool feature.

Rift has a lot of good ideas actually. Looting is one also like the convenient lock/unlock bars single click

AoE looting is what it is called. Seems to be standard in MMOs lately.

I like their Instant Adventures. Would love to see something like that here.

I love the autoloot thing-they have it in WoW as well. Some of the addons for WoW also have an "autosell" for vendor items, where when u click on a vendor, it automatically sells all your vendor junk. Very convenient.
Another really great thing about Rift that I like, personally, is its ftp model. Pretty much the entire game is ftp, and having a subscription gives you benefits, like summoning a banker/guildbanker, and increased coin/exp/faction from mobs/quests-and their benefits don't end in September , heh.. I have a sub there and a station access sub here, but I like eq2 better, and it would sure be nice to be able to get those benefits for having a gold sub, and for the ftp folks, im sure it would be nice to not have restrictions.

They should just change Dungeon Finder to "Dungeon Transport." I really would not mind if we could just open the list and see all the instances/dungeons available to our level and just click them and poof you are warped.

Set the group member requirement to >=1 and viola you have a working teleport. :p

Can I get a button in my house where I just press it and it dispenses loot?

Actually, since dungeon finder is so useless, converting it to a porting method isn't such a bad idea.

    LOL! :p

Rift had AoE looting before WoW decided to do it, lol. I both liked & disliked that feature. When I was new, my bags always got full too fast. It was very nice once I had huge bags though!

My only issue with looting in EQ2 is that the corpses disappear so fast. Sometimes I pull multiple mobs & their corpses have vanished before I get to look at them properly. The ones with good loot stick around longer though which is good. Like Avianna, I must always make sure I loot EVERYTHING! :)

I played Rift for about a year at launch. It has some really nice features, & their destrier/medieval war horse mounts were & still are my favorite ground mounts of ANY game. Even though I enjoyed alot of things in Rift, it just never called to me like EQ2 does. I feel at home here. Something warmy was lacking in Rift...it felt like a New Halas house with no fireplace.

Rift's cool features are entirely negated by the coin lock security "feature". I closed my account because of it.

Can you elaborate for us non-Rifters?

If you hadn't logged in for a while, or there was a patch or it was a Tuesday or a new moon the game would put a "coin lock" on so you couldn't sell, buy or use your bank until you typed in a security code they mailed to you - so you had to alt-tab out of the game and sit in outlook waiting for the mail before you can play.

    Just ruined it for me.

Shortly after Rift launched there was a large compromise in security due to coding/security issues. Once they tightened that up, they implemented "Coin-lock". If their log in server didn't recognize your IP, or if you had recently reformatted your HDD for new install, you would need to recieve an email, & use the one-time code therein to unlock your account. You could still log in, but you couldn't do anything with your bank or guild or delete characters etc.

They did offer authenticators only with mobile devices. Coin lock happened pretty often...better than getting hacked, but yup annoying. I would have preferred a pc authenticator like my SOE one. :)

Just bring Hartsman back to EQ2 team :)

As far as the AoE loot idea goes, I would prefer they instead implemented some sort of "autoloot"* where if someone is in a group that is smaller than the size that the zone was initially designed for, it would force the looting any chests that drop as well as any corpse drops. Wouldn't really change much in the game, but it would cut down on the amount of "chest litter" in overland and contested zones**. :D (This would also have the secondary effect of filling the bags of the people doing farming in contested zones, thus allowing people that are actually trying to complete quests that require named kills in those zones to have a small window within which to get their updates. o_O)

    * According to group loot options, of course - except if someone is moloing and they hit decline, it goes into their inventory anyway. :p
** Granted, if they did this, they would probably also have to come up with a way to allow us to specify where loot windows would be restricted from popping up***, unless the autoloot feature was disabled while mobs were within a given proximity.
*** Which, really, would be nice to have anyway, but that is another subject.

hey what about those gambling things? lol casino set, couldn't they just dispense gold?

I actually thought that was a brilliant feature, but I can see how it would be annoying for someone with a dynamic IP. For those that don't know: if your IP address changes, Rift puts a Coin Lock on your account. You can still play but cannot sell, destroy, trade, mail, auction, etc, until you put in the code emailed to the address for the account. https://support.trionworlds.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/930 In the almost 2.5 years that I've played Rift I've only been coin locked twice, once when I moved and once when I upgraded my entire machine earlier this year.

Another player mentioned this above: a "sell junk" button, which you can find standard on almost any MMO from about 2009 on. We already took a step toward that by not allowing junk to go into broker, now we just need a button added to sell all that junk with one swoop. :D
  19. Wirewhisker Well-Known Member

    That's a bit overkill, the coin-lock.

But I guess after what happened in this game, everyone else would rather be too secure than risk another PR disaster and month-long downtime.

    sure why not OPie?

but not a big deal if not included o_O
