Compressed Essence of Disease, Flame, Frost, Venom, Divine, Mind, and Void

    20 Days Research each

    Components:
1 Fragment of (Disease, Flame, Frost, Venom, Divine, Mind, or Void) (no idea where to obtain these)
    1 incandescent material
1 Far Seas Kindling (35 Far Seas Ferrin)

I have seen various Fragment types discovered on maybe 1 or 2 servers each and the item is listed as handcrafted. Does anyone have any idea where to obtain the recipe for the Fragment components to make the new ammo?

The recipe books have not yet been discovered. As of Altar of Malice, TS Apprentice recipes are "discovered" when granted to players so that they will show up in Census, so these recipes just haven't been made yet.

You misunderstood my question. I know the recipes haven't been disco'd since they take 20 days to research. I am asking about where to acquire the "ingredient" Fragment of (Disease, Flame, Frost, Venom, Divine, Mind, or Void). The ingredient has been disco'd on some servers, but there is no indication as to where/how they were obtained. The disco page on eq2u list them as handcrafted.

I just got a Fragment of Flame as reward for doing my Tradeskill Researcher's daily task. (Disco on Butcherblock)

Thank you, Cecie. At least we know one way to obtain these. Has anyone found these any other way? This seems like a very inefficient way to get primary ingredients for ammo recipes.

Anything New about where the fragments come from i still have not had anything confirmed. no rewards from researchers yet, im am very excited to see this how this is used and if it is a viable asset to the game.

I got a Fragment of Frost the other day, and my apprentices are currently researching the recipes for all 7 types. I know you can make 4000 ammo from this item, but it can also be used to add damage to a weapon. In my case, I'll be adding cold damage to a weapon one day.

My question is: is it ANY weapon (quested, dropped from a mob and looted from a chest) or does it have to be a player made crafted weapon (ideally, mastercrafted)?

Any weapon, with the rare exception such as for Mythicals.

Any weapon, with the rare exception such as for Ethereals and Mythicals. We don't have any current plans to allow them to work on Etherals or Mythicals, but we'll talk about it.

Bows and throwing weapons don't do damage to a creature, the ammo you fire does. There isn't anything that needs to be fixed about that.

I was asked to post here about my knowledge of the fragments, I have paid very close attention to what they do, how to make them, so on. Here is what I posted in the other Arrow thread, but this is a more appropriate place.

HERE is what I know ON ESSENCE DROPS!

I imbued my weapon to mental damage, it changed the name of the keshian wand to "Psychic Keshian Wand" and gave me disco. Check out Nanatize AB at EQ2U.

The tradeskill apprentice will drop a rare item once in a while called a "Fragment of" either
    Disease, does disease
    Divine, divine damage
    Frost, Cold damage
    Flame, Heat damage
    Mind, Mental damage
    Venom, Posion damage
    Void, Magic damage
These are just like the old "Colossal" reactants that everyone was so happy to get from their researcher.

    This covers everyone's debuffing abilities.
You may imbue all MC weapons, you can Imbue Heirloom weapons, Attuneable Lore weapons.

You may not imbue Ethereal weapons, because I believe those are already imbued, such as Scythe for Burn. The mythicals that are already set to a damage type are not working and I do believe Sony got this right, they shouldn't.

You take your Fragment, and you research the recipe, go to a work bench if you want to imbue, or a woodworking table for ammo. far seas kindling required and bam... you have a "Essence of" whatever.

Your choice though, ammo does +611, +5 range and 25% hit bonus.

"But I buy spiritshard arrows and they are just as good" no.... 25% hit bonus compared to 10% is not "just as good".

These were not created for the average player, these are created for that player who wants to squeeze every point possible out of their dps. Plain and simple.

Why change your damage type? 1. You debuff a particular damage anyway so why not get more out of those debuffs!
    2. The real reason they are in game, we are finding that some mobs are more resistful to certain types of damage. So if one mob has super high resists to Heat, and you are a heater... you can grab a different weapon to "squeeze" out some more dps.

I have done Divine, Mind and Disease and have heard and seen positive results. Again... this is not for everyone.

Can it be used on mage wands too to change their dmg type?

I would like to add on to my post just above here, we have done some more testing for you.

Essence of Divine was just placed on an attunable, "Blade of Eternal Hatred" for a Paladin.
Auto attack on a training dummy was a bit of a bump higher, it also changed the damage type to "Smite"
EDIT: so I went on the parse, training dummy, got 53k average with the weapon doing absolutely nothing else but auto attacking. When I started using the divine damage reduction, "righteousness", debuffing divine damage, my auto went from 53k average... twice, to 67k average.
Using Righteousness with the damage as crush did nothing to improve the crush, obviously.
So 53k to 67k is about... 20% increase in damage as long as you use your debuffs.

What we learned from the Essences is that they work on either ranged throwing weapon or bows, your choice.

The higher the damage rating on the weapon, the higher the damage from the essence,
average hit with piercing damage from a Ranger was 948k with the way we set up the test.

Using exactly the same procedure only with the Compressed Essences in the ammo slot.... 1.3m. He hit for about 27% more with the compressed essence of Venom, which is the poison damage.

Meshuggahx, as far as I can tell, all MC primary, 2h, Focused Range, as well as Attunable and Heirloom are working.

Only the burn damage ethereals and specific damage mythicals are not, which makes total sense to me.

K, does not work on Zlandicar weapons which DOES surprise me, there is no imbue or augment placed on those, so please tell me why that would not allow an imbuement to crushing damage.

Probably because it can be turned into a house item and swapping back and forth would probably lose the damage change so they disallow it?

    Well, BAH HUMBUG!

I just applied an Essence of the Mind to my Visionary Xiocite Outrider Wand (refined and experimented 5 times), and the essence removed all benefits from the refined materials and the experimentation. So, not only did I lose the refined wood, but also wasted the nerve-wracking time to experiment. And, the Psychic Xiocite Outrider Wand is no longer an adequate replacement for my previous gear on my coercer. Yes, I can experiment on the wand again, but without the refined qualities, its still useless to me.

It seems strange that an ultra-rare tradeskill item will remove the benefits of the two other top-end aspects of tradeskilling. I was hoping to make a really quintessential item through all this work.

If nothing else, the descriptions of the Essences of ...... should be improved to indicate this detriment to their use on crafted items.

    Warning to all crafters.

That was mentioned on the forums once before. Please /bug it. It can't be the intended behavior. (And maybe /petition it, though I imagine you'll get the same "working as intended" response that any bugged content will give you.)

Ah, I wish I had seen that. Well, I did /bug and /petition. The description on the essence is not self-explanatory. Thanks.

My only complaint so far is that the ammo/ranged usage of these is finite/limited compared to melee. Even with a yield of 2k its pretty steep considering you could imbue one weapon melee or multiple melee weapons with different types and be set indefinitely.

I realize the current implementation might be a 'quick fix' but there should be some way to expend the material to grant the ability to make a potentially infinite, no-trade supply of that ammo type which would be a proper equivalent to the melee implementation. Perhaps it should craft a no-trade ammo recipe instead that makes no-trade arrows.
