"Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered"

I am having this same error. I have followed all of the suggestions with the direct X9 link and updating my card drivers. After that did not work I contacted dell since my PC was still under warranty. When I explained that the error could be the card over heating. After much persistence they replaced the card. Then I noticed it again called back and again gave them a firm talking to explaining that they must have given me a bad card so they sent a guy out to make sure I was not an idiot and installed the card wrong. He did and ran a number of tests on the card. I then played a number of other 3D games with no problems and low and behold a number of weeks later this same error reappeared. I was furious so I called back and this time out of warranty Dell agreed to not only replace the video card but the motherboard and the power supply in case it was a power issue or something was defective on the board. He checked everything and again with the error. I have a hard time now believing that 3 video cards and a motherboard later that this can be a hardware issue. Last summer and early fall I was able to run 2 instances of EQ2 on duel monitors easily and now I'm getting these driver errors. If there is anything other advice besides: Getting new drivers (Video card/Bios) Direct X 9c or replacing all the hardware in my PC please let me know.

Although I still occasionaly have the problem, it is much less of an issue since I disabled 3D functions wherever I could.

This happened over and over to me today when I was going into the Oratorium of Thyr. It didn't happen in sol A at all until I zoned in there. This has been happening in my guild hall for about a month now also.

You can start by posting your DXDIAG information and perhaps I'll be able to point out something that can get you going in the right direction. These issues are very hard to track down to a cause.

Sorry wa_error.log is for a different game of ours... I support multiple games and got my wires tangled!

I had the same error and have come to the conclusion that my Radeon HD 4850 just bought the farm and, as I think about its replacement, I can't help but wonder about the NVIDIA flash on the startup screen. Is NVIDIA better than ATI for EQ2 or does it matter? Anyone have any recommendations in the $150-200 range? I was thinking Radeon Hawk HD 5770. Also, any recommendations of manufacturers within the selected model (e.g. MSI over ASUS, etc.).
Any help is appreciated...going through withdrawal!!

Hope this gets fixed. Is happening to me and a friend of mine as well.

I can confirm GU58 is when this started.
I get a recovery message in many zones, but they seem to be the same zones/locations within the zones. I can reproduce this at will.
Given that this a a well-reported issue, can Sony please look in to this? Please don't suggest insulting solutions such as "reinstall windows" to fix an EQ2 issue.

Any word on what the DXDIAG files may show? It has been a month since the last TSR response.

This is very true. I never had an issue until they started messing with the shader options. I can say that I have issues near the spires in el. There are other areas that the shaders have caused issues.
