    Hello Homeshow!
I thought it would be a good idea to post this here as well as on the Items and Equipments category, just in case any of you may have missed it. I hope you don't mind!

Can we please make more of the original ground mounts available for use as an appearance mount for our flying mounts? Now that flying mounts provide such vital stats to us we no longer use the ground mounts which I find terribly sad because you guys have made some beautiful ground mounts.

These are just a FEW of the ground mounts that I love!

    I have ideas on how you could implement this;
    • Mounts that look capable of flying(via magic) such as the Order of Rime Icemare, the Lavastorm Horse, MAGIC Carpets,CLOUDS, Mistrunners etc will be able to fly.
    • Mounts that you wish to be made to be able to fly will require something extra... such as an item that will 'enhance' them to allow them to fly and thus be used as a flying mount appearance.
Personally, I would prefer them to just run in the air like they do in Lavastorm and the Loping Plains. I don't like the way the new Hellhound mount from NoTD flies it just doesn't look right at all to me.

    DEVS, I have heard that some of you have said things about this topic before and I would like to address them;

'We can't make flying animations for the ground mounts.'
I am sorry but quite frankly I do not believe that. To me it really sounds like; 'We can't be bothered to make flying animations for the ground mounts' because you don't even need to make new animations! You could use the original animations of these mounts and it would look FINE. It would make sense! If there is more to it than that can't you elaborate?
We don't want to lose Money/DBC since people won't buy the Flying Mounts we have on the Marketplace
I am very sure that your team can find a work around for this if you are really worried about losing money because you think people won't buy the mounts. Get creative! Personally, I believe that if the mount is beautiful and captivating people WILL buy it!!! You could also make the ground mounts that you have for sale available for use as a flying mount appearance! YOU GUYS HAVE GROUND MOUNTS I WOULD BUY IF I COULD USE IT AS A FLYING MOUNT APPEARANCE!!
COMMUNITY! This is where you guys come in!
Surely if we get enough people to reply to this thread a developer will see it and hopefully something can be done! Please guys! I can't be the only one that wants to use these beautiful ground mounts that past devs have worked hard on designing and implementing into the game!

I support this 100%! I think this is a great idea. More fun for us and more revenue for Daybreak.
Thanks for thinking of it and bringing it forward!!!!

    I sure would! Of course.

I'm not sure when/if a dev ever looks at this forum, but there is a way...hang on whilst I check out the link...brb. ;->

EDIT: Ah, here we are: eq2.dgcissuetracker.com

According to Sigrdrifa, that's more likely to come to their attention. It is a third-party site, which means you do need to sign up separately for it (siiggghhhh), but apparently it does get noticed. :-/

Yes I have asked in the thread requesting a duck mount that there is a mount that is on marketplace that is a ground mount and begged to have it for flying with magic. I forget the name of it but it is blue with skulls hanging from horns or something. It matches my main so well. There are so many other really great ground mounts that my other characters love. I pretty much just use wings on everyone since I really want to use their ground mount. I would settle for having a third box for ground appearance so whenever in a house that cannot fly or town or wherever flying is not allowed it would use the ground mount instead. Prefer they would fly by magic tho.

This was discussed quite a bit back when flying mounts were coming out. I still agree that all mounts should be viable for appearance. The devs claimed they don't have the resources to do the animations properly and don't want us to look silly. Meanwhile, pink unicorns farting hearts were already in the game and now we have things like a hoard of patchwork monstrosities. I think we already look silly.

I know a lot of people would want that

    I also would.

but at the same time .. it's low priority unless they have a team specialised on appearance stuff.

I know that appearance is important in a game, the more you can customize, the better. But if they need to put ressources into it that would rather go on class balance, I'll choose class balance.

And I wonder if they really would have a team to work on that kind of stuff (though it would really help them ... to have people doing those stuff with mounts/ armor also)

For that I would agree with them. You could use the running animation as the "flying animation" ... but you'd need the take off and landing animations (other wise would be ugly), U need the air iddle animation (otherwise would stand still and ugly), would need the falling animation.

they still want to give quality product. and I agree with them, if you don't have those animations, better not allow those mounts to be flying.

Mounts are generally Ttobey's department, so he would basically be the person to contact at DBG, regarding mounts.

As for asking them to make the disc and cloud mounts into flying mounts, they keep telling us no, even though we would really like it to be so.

As for the ticket tracker site, I've given up hope that they even pay attention to that site.

As for the reason people don't currently buy their flying mounts, it's not because we don't like them...it's just that the price is too high. If they shut this game down tomorrow, said item would simply be gone forever, never to be enjoyed again. There is only so much I can justify to spend on virtual items before I simply say no to said items, and with us already having so many mounts there isn't really a need for them...they are simply for appearance purposes or house items only, and doesn't make them an item of particular value to me.

The only mounts I use for appearance on ALL my characters are discs or wings, and for equipped mount, whatever the currently best combat mount I own on my characters. ALL other mounts are to me, strictly for decorative purposes. It is not my intent to devalue the artists work put into designing said mounts...but I take into consideration how many times that piece of art has been/will be copied and sold, over and over again. Even at $5 apiece, it will more than compensate for the money paid to design said piece of art, and I'm sure there are many more players willing to spend $5 on a mount as opposed to $20. I am willing to bet if they would drastically lower the price on their mounts, they would sell quite a few more of them than they currently do. While it's just about the money for the company, there's a lot more taken into consideration by those who spend said money on these items, and the biggest of these is justification for that spending...for me, anyways. I am sure there are others who feel the same way I do about this.

While yes, I wish they would make these 'flying' type ground mounts able to be used as appearance flying mounts, I also understand it means making changes to some of these mounts. I don't see why there would need to be ANY changes made at all to cloud mounts or disc mounts, however, especially the disc mounts used in Sundered/Stonebrunt and the cloud mounts used in the Barren Sky, as they already have the flying mount appearance in game (after all, they are used for flying in the zones they come from), I simply cannot see any reason at all for them to not make them able to be used as appearance purposes for flying mounts, except to simply deny their customers something they desire. This is something I cannot wrap my mind around, when it comes to marketing purposes.

This post is not intended as a complaint, nor is it meant to be argumentative, but simply to point out my take on this subject...take it or leave it. I am enjoying the game as it is, and I can live without said mounts being used as appearance flying mounts...still, I would like it if you could use them and I do support this request yet once again.

Just as I use disc mounts and wings, I would use cloud mounts for appearance purposes as well, but no other mounts will do for me when it comes to flying or ground mounts, either one. They are the only mounts that do not block too much of my screen, and so the only ones I am willing to even consider for my characters, period, other than the ability to fly using their own wings (my fae and arasai's would love to be able to fly of their own volition, if only they could still keep their combat mount equipped for the stats while they do so, like the Aerakyn can. Not being able to do so made that quest kind of pointless for them, as I never use that ability due to it's restrictions and the popping out of their tiny form when in combat is kind of disconcerting.)

I can think of one reason why they wouldn't do this: if it's a mount of some sort you could buy off the Marketplace (complete with a separate purchase of some sort of thing, like with the Weapon Speed Token, that would make it fly) or somehow acquire, like though a quest, at an early point, like 10th or below, you'd have a bunch of very low-level folks buzzing around, bypassing all the content (though if that would make it possible to bypass those bloody blasted idiotic Shadow Critters, I'm all for it). :-/

It's probably why they "nerfed" our lovely patchwork lion mount we got from all the hard work at the Heroes' Festival (finally! A reason to do all those quests! :D) and kicked it from 10th to 35th...and did they do that to that gods-awful "looks like Walt Disney threw up" flying unicorn (or whatever) thing from Race to Trakanon, or is that still at 10th? :p At any rate, it would've been nice for them to have warned us they were going to do that to the patchwork lions. But I wasn't on Twitter or Discord, so naturally I was in the dark about it until it hit. :-/

    Uwk
who, despite the lack of dignity involved, still appreciates the heiny-kicker Leaper mount at 10th, if we can't have the other :D
