AA that increase dmg

    The mystic AA Prophetic Ailment in shadows tree improves disease dmg;

    "Improves the damage and critical amount of the mystic's disease based spells."
    "Increases the base and critical damage of disease based spells by 10%"

    How does this work in conjunction with Ascension classes?
    Say you toggle on the Elementalist buff which converts all to cold. Does this render the AA useless, or does it apply to the spells that originally where disease based?

    Same question goes for the other way, if you apply the Thaumaturgist buff which make all spells disease based, will the AA apply for all spells including the Ascension spell for example Septic Strike.

    Any suggestion to a way to confirm this? Would not be surprised if this was somehow broken when the Thaumaturgist buff is active.

    best way is to try.

    go elementalist, use the asc buff level 1 - check spells tooltip

    then go thaumaturgist, use exact same buff and check spells tooltip :)

    I have no idea if these AA work on Ascensions, but they are useless anyway. Because "Increases the base and critical damage of disease based spells by 10%" means it gives 10 potency and 10 cb.

    Thanks, so after testing a little bit;

    - The skill increases the Thaumaturgist spellls
    - Even with the Elementalist buff on, the orignal disese spells are increased
    - The increase is minor so the 10cb/pot seems about right

    So DB needs to fix that too, Please make this and other AA's scale with the characters potency/cb or add a couple of 0's to the 10% increase!

    Pretty sure AAs like that work just like the Elementalist's lv11 spell Elemental Channeling and only affect your profession and AA spells of that type "naturally". Using a weapon infusion to change CA damage types or the ascension buff to change spell damage type makes the new damage type "unnatural" and does not count. Since ascension spells are not tied to any profession, they are not affected by those AAs AFAIK.

    BTW, any AA that says "increases damage / heal" and does not have "base" in it is basically a tiny Potency increase. Like "Improves the damage by 10%" only gives it +10 potency.

    Similar for AAs that "Reduce Reuse / Casting time by X", these are worthless if they don't affect the "base" time since everyone is capping these stats now (outside of PGs).

    Edit: Saw your testing results after posting ... did the AA that "Increases the base and critical damage of disease based spells by 10%" work on Thaumaturgist spells?

    base damage is not potency. It increase the base damage before modifications by 10% of it's current value which can mean a big difference after potency and AM

    Vunder, have you ever played the game?

    You said base damage. Base damage increase AA are not calculated as potency. Increase damage by X amount vs Increase BASE damage by X amount are 2 very different things.

    Base damage before modifications and base damage are two separate things. Base damage used to mean potency. In the context of a TSO-era AA it means potency. "Base damage before modification" things didn't come out until at least 110 cap.
