A long time ago there used to be a post on the OLD forums site called (Purple "link" emote text) that explained the new method on how to add item key code into social hotkeys to make them stand out. It read: It's been a while since i played the game, but i saved my character's ui file from way back when and had special emotes setup where i had the targeted users name displaying in special purple "link" text. THe code for it was: 0028071-00001-00001-00001-00001-000015ED87FFC %T It no longer works right, does anyone know the updated code to simulate the link text so i can update my emote in my UI? Relevant response was: They changed the item codes a while back. Turn your log on, then ;tell (click item icon in display window) hit enter. So, say you have a Tiny Jade Inlaid Coffin and you want the item code for it. Right click and hold down on the Tiny Jade Inlaid Coffin until the Item Display Window pops up, then in your chat window type ;tell and click on the picture in the IDW and hit enter. It would look like this in your chat window: ;tell Tiny Jade Inlaid Coffin EQ will return a string in your chat window that says Player 0026EA0000000000000000000000000000000000007D54037ETinyJade cannot be found. When you go to your log file you will copy the code up to where the item name starts. I have seen people who have it.... but trying to get them to explain hw or exactly what to do / incorporate the code is a nightmare... usually I get a response of "A friend of mine setup the social for me... I don't know anything about computers". Which is ever so lovey to hear. So .... can anyone provide the exact code or procedures for doing this????
By the way .... just realized .... depending on the browser you are using.... you may or may NOT see the BOX symbol that is needed to encapsulate the code in your social hotkey when manually entering the code. IE8.. and Legacy Firefox versions display it.... Chrome and versions of Firefox above 17 / Ie9+ do NOT show the character code BOX. If you know what I am talking about.... it would be: {BOX SYMBOL}0028071-00001-00001-00001-00001-000015ED87FFC %T{BOX SYMBOL}
This used to work for me as well until I upgraded from winXP to win7. Then nothing would make it work.

The above does work, and copying to notepad shows the little UP/DOWN arrows where they are supposed to be. Remember to save the .ini file as a UTF-8.
Did they ever fix the bug where storing your .INI files in UTF-8 caused all sorts of bad side-effects? (Like socials getting another space added to the end every time you start EQ etc)
As far as the "box" symbol goes, I have had trouble with it due to, I guess, the browsers no longer displaying it. As a result, I created a sample file that can be downloaded with it: Colored Socials.ini
I'm going to throw out there rare knowledge for advanced hotkey editing. You can use more than one color in the same line of a for the same hotkey. You can also use spell/aa ID or desc number on lucy raw data to find your spell or aa that you are using to replace the number i put in this hotkey for what you want to use. This let you do that for aa, spells, achievements and faction. Plus, i recently just found out how to write+ a dialogue link which triggers in /say the text input same as the word you used in your dialogue link. It's super useful for raids, questing and grouping if you wanna synch up and help other members with what to say to NPCs. They will see a light blue link in chat with those words they can click to follow you in your quests/events easily among other things. New hotkeys formattable to replace normal white text in your hotkeys. You can use this to insert text using achievements, spells, aas, dialogues and items. It will trigger different things such as a text input in say when clicking the dialogue link, show/pop a description of your spells and aas when clicking a spell or aa link, open up the achievement or faction when you click on their links, and add a TON of flavor. You can use those links to make it easier to read, help your group and add utility to your hotkeys!!! Warning: Discord/Forums converts the symbols to something else so don't use it from just expanding. Use the utf-8 text file attached to keep the right formatting.
