had Gina working, computer did an auto update, now it tells me the program is blocked and I am not allowed to install it. Have seen others post this problem on the Gina boards, but no reply from anyone about how to fix. Been over a year now and still cant install Gina... any ideas?
I have had my computer update activate defender and change settings on av etc before so maybe make sure those are where they used to be.
If you aren't using EQLP by now then that's your fault. We gave everyone over a year of warning about GINA server instability, lack of valid signature on the installer, etc.
Sometimes windows will block a program from being installed but if you click more information it will give you the option to install it anyway. It makes it non-obvious. edit: and gina still works just fine for me. Im using EQLP, but havent uninstalled gina yet.
I tried EQLP and found much to praise. However, there were a few issues that made moving from GINA somewhat problematic. Right now, I went to launch EQLP to look it over again and comment, however, it says there is an update. I click yes to update and it won't update. Going to the website (https://github.com/kauffman12/EQLogParser/tree/master/Release), there is both EQLogParser-2.2.13.msi and EQLogParser-install-2.2.13.exe, with no explanation of why I would want one over the other. Since I already have it installed, I am unsure if picking one over the other would cause an issue if I already have the other one installed (previous version).
IIRC more info opens up a window with a scroll bar on the bottom. Grab the bar and pull left. Been a while since Ive seen it. Or google. There definitely is a way.
You skipped the main page with the readme and correct installer to use called out and went right to the downloads folder. Go back up to https://github.com/kauffman12/EQLogParser/ and scroll down. The msi needs to stay around a while so older versions have something to auto update since they only work with msi files. Not sure why yours wouldn't update. It's worked for most people. You could check the log file and see if any errors showed up. I just tried it again from my windows 10 VM and main windows 11 PC and both work going from 2.2.9 to the latest. If it prompted you then maybe it didn't have permissions to write the file. It tries to put it in your downloads folder under AutoUpdateEQLogParser.
You might want to ask in the rogue discord. I don't really know what people use and the few I do like to do things completely differently.
Another good alternative is EQ Nag: https://guildantix.github.io/eq-nag/ I use this myself and has all raiding triggers in the trigger library for all expansions.
The downloads folder can be moved out of the users folder. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10667012/getting-downloads-folder-in-c
Right. I'm just using %userprofile%\\Downloads and if it doesn't exist you should see a message window popup with Unable to Access Downloads Folder. They didn't see that so I'm guessing downloads is there. But I don't have error dialogs for some of the other exceptions that can happen. They should show up in the error log though.
