Level appropriate gear for 68-78?

    Hi all,

Looking for jewellery for my casters at around this level. I was going to camp for the +2hp regen +2mana regen ring from the Watering Hole DS expedition, but I understand the exps were nerfed a couple of years ago so the named can't pop.

I could go buy the PoK stuff, but I really really enjoy old content - any suggestions as to what I could go for or a site that has such suggestions? I've already done the first 4 level 68 Undershore missions so have the clicky shrink earring.

If you're really wanting to play "efficiently" then it's a very common choice to just wear defiant gear until around level 85+ and then start farming House of Thule expansion gear, which is the level 85-90 expansion. House of Thule content is used as the starting point for level 85 heroic characters, and is generally viewed as a great expansion for catching up in gear.

Since you specifically mention you really enjoy older content, you do have other options for the 65-80ish range of gear.

One option is to do heroic adventures in The Broken Mirror expansion. TBM has kind of a unique gearing system explained here https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq:The_Broken_Mirror_Overview and the missions tune as low as level 75.

Another option is heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken expansion, explained here https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq:Call_of_the_Forsaken_Overview and again these scale as low as level 75.

A third option is to simply farm gear in even older content. Raidloot.com has great filters for searching this stuff. Since you mentioned caster jewelry, I filtered this search for wizard earrings that drop in Secrets of Faydwer and earlier. Secrets of Faydwer is level 75-80 content, so note the best items listed here will be level 80 required https://www.raidloot.com/items?name...and older&prestige=Include&order=HP&view=List

You can adjust the filters on raidloot to match the class/slot and era(s) you want to focus on.

Thanks, that's great info and I appreciate you taking the time on it - I had forgotten raidloot.com, I was struggling with alla's, which is a great site, but not the best for gear hunting.

I loot defiant as it drops for visible gear, but enjoy getting era-appropiate non-visible items as I really take my time on the leveling journey. I'll be doing TBS in the 70's, but I'll look into TBM / CoF.

Since you specifically mention jewelry, have you considered the tradeskill options?

At level 68 you could wear palladium compartmented trio jewelry, which would cover 6 slots if you want (ears, fingers, neck, face). With Pear Cut Underfoot diamonds in them, you would get ~400 HME from each piece, and you can also add two other gems to each piece. I usually went with Round Cut Opals and Round Cut Emeralds.

The gems are attunable, so once used by that char, they are locked in. The settings are not, and can be passed on to lower level alts, or sold. At level 75, you can make Dwerium settings, and get a bit more out of the gems.

Here's a website which shows what you can make: http://nathrach.republicofnewhome.org/gizmotron/

The pieces I described are actually 508 HME at level 68.

With trio jewelry there is a small trick to use: non-compartmented trio (i.e. without type 7 aug) has 5 levels lower recommended level. At level 68 Dwerium Trio jewelry item in your suggested configuration would provide 597HME and will improve to 635 HME at level 70.

Thanks for the tip. I always knew about non-compartmented, and always thought, why bother with that, get the type 7 socket. Never noticed they had a lower required level on them :)
