Fixed Internally TDS quest "The Night is Dark": Hatchling doesn't spawn

In the quest "The Night is Dark" (TDS Thuliasaur Island Merc quest) the third step is to spawn a hatchling which one has to escort. I have Large Lantern equiped, I am in the appropriate time slot (between 7PM and 4 AM, I am at the right spot (-122, + 142) but I dont get the update and dont see a hatchling spawn.

It doesn't look like this has been fixed yet - hatchling still won't spawn and there are multiple people here with quest and with someone tracking. Step 3 "Use the lantern to search the central forest at night" will not update to make the hatchling spawn.

Description: Quest "The Night Is Dark" is not functioning properly. Hatchling will not spawn on the third step of the quest, which is a location based update. Have tried it multiple times on different log-ins.

Have to agree this is broken removed and restarted the quest the hatching doesn't spawn. When talking to the advisor his response is that you will find another hatching where you found the last one. Har to do that when it never spawned in the first place.

This is a location update that must be done between 7:00 P.M. and 4:00 A.M. game /time, at location -120, 140, 54. Make sure your lantern is equipped, go to this location at night, and a lizard hatchling spawns. Once it spawns, you can unequip the lantern.

Are you telling me you have gone and done this quest since I posted the bug? I did everything you said here and it did not work for me. If it worked for you, I will go retry it again.

You did not post any of that in the OP, the devs are going to ask what you did, they arent just going to blindly go into and guess at it.

I appreciate your trying to help. I would not report a bug without double and triple checking I was doing it correctly. I had my lantern equipped, in the right place at the right time of day. I tried it multiple times, on multiple characters and the lost hatchling does not spawn. I did this quest for another character over a year ago and had no issue at all, but it is currently broken so it is impossible to finish the Heroic AAs for The Darkened Sea expansion.

I have also been stymied by this quest. I have gotten to the point after the ambush where I defeated the ambusher, saved the hatchling, and given the hatchling the second torch. At that point the hatchling runs off so fast that I can't see where it goes saying that it can't see me even though I was standing next to it. This has happened twice so far.

I tried the quest again tonight with a different character but with the same result. I get the hatchling to spawn, give him the first torch, follow him to the ambush spot, kill the ambusher, give him the second torch, and he runs off extremely fast (blink of an eye is not an exaggeration) never to be found. I ran around looking for him this time but the quest must have timed out on me. I thought he was supposed to follow me? Help!

Can confirm this was broken on Bristlebane today. Character got the quest, got updates for buying Large Lantern and 2 Torch, equipped Large Lantern and stood in correct location and ran around general area at various times between 7pm and 5am in-game time. NPC "a lost hatchling" never spawned (per visual inspection and tracking) nor did anything else of note happen.

I requested the quest on a second character who had done it some years ago, and same result. No combination of with/without levitation or character model size seemed to make any difference whatsoever.

Was not able to reproduce this. The hatchling appears to be spawning in the correct location and was able to complete the quest as normal.

Still not working on Povar. Its all I need to finish th Merc quests. Pretty frustrating

Lantern equipped, before 4am game /time. It's right at the base of the tree, likely very sensitive to position and Z axis, try taking off lev. Hatchling was close to the south.


Are you buying the lantern and torches before starting the task, or somewhere other than Thuli?

Buying them once I got the quest, and I am at that location. Getting ready to try it again shortly. Thanks for the update.
