Playing around with Called Shots Rk. II, which has the following spell information:

    Called Shots Rk. II
    Description
1: Archery Attack for 162 with 400% Accuracy Mod
2: Archery Attack for 162 with 450% Accuracy Mod
3: Archery Attack for 138 with 500% Accuracy Mod
4: Archery Attack for 138 with 600% Accuracy Mod
5: Add effect: Called Shots Effect

    Called Shots Effect
    Description
    11: Skill Damage Taken (40%)

Both parts of the spell have a Range value of 200. It was observed that the base spell is modified by detrimental spell range focus effects, but the added Called Shots Effect does not have the same consideration. This creates a zone between 201 and 270 range where you don't get the Called Shots Effect applied to the target as expected.

    Thanks for your review!

Called Shots Effect data is marked as Detrimental and Focusable. Are you looking at target buff window or logged lines? If logged lines do you have any filters turned off? > 200 could be further than the reporting range of the spell hitting too so it would hit you just wouldn't see it unless within 200.

Someone else that knows SPAs, "Add effect" could be applied at the target, so range wouldn't matter anyway as it's not coming from the player.

There's a comment on the Called Shots Effect that it enhances the regular focused single target hail of arrows spell, and only lasts a few ticks.

Target buff window. In my tests, Called Shots Effect applies every time within the 200 range of the target and is present in the target buff/debuff window. This makes sense, as it's flagged as an unresistable spell.

Past that 200 range, it never applied in the window when using Called Shots. There was no error recorded by the log regarding resists/failures, and damage of shots following its use aren't increased as expected.

There are several combo effects that have different ranges. For example, Protest of Honor gets a slow effect added via aa line. But if you pull at max range with Honor, the slow never goes off. You have to let the mob get closer before the slow will have a chance to land.

Might be nice to just get a clarification that a spell/disc/whatever with two or more effects can have different ranges, but fixing this specific one would seem to open a lot more needed fixes.

Trying to remember if it has been brought up before if "doom" effects are not attributed to the caster so they do not get the benefit of focus abilities even though it is flagged as focusable.
